Why is it the grocery stores here do not stock produce grown in USA? Albertsons, Smiths, Sunflower, Sams even Trader Joes. Grapes from Mexico. Do we not grow grapes in USA anymore? Onions, radishes, etc. Has anyone found a store that only carries produce from USA?

Most supermarkets do carry organically-grown produce. Those veterans of the Las Vegas area should be able to direct you to speciality grocery stores that only carry organic goods.

As for produce shipped from international sources: I believe this is minimal in the United States, but reduced commerce costs is most likely the principal reasoning for this (in my opinion).

Try the farmers markets. Some are local. In this part of the world the good stuff grows in CA or MX.

Many in Nevada would point out the California is at least as foreign as Mexico.

I'm thinking a lot of it has to do with growing seasons, but if you buy organic it is usually grown in the U.S. of A. I do believe. Mostly California. But as olecapt says, that might as well be foreign grown. Even organic from California couldn't possibly miss having the poisons that permeate the air in the Central Valley land on them.

I personally miss the produce from the Ohio River Valley and other parts of West by God Virginia. Hot house tomatoes as big as grapefruit, beans about a foot long, large yellow tomatoes that have only shown up around here in the past couple of years, all juicy and tasty. The citrus from Florida is three times larger, and a lot juicier than the stuff from California and Arizona. Maybe because of the amount of moisture and richer soil? The produce grown in California and Arizona is puny, dried out, and tasteless as far as I'm concerned.
