Default Amenities at Centennial Hills

Looking more closely at the Centennial area in Vegas and was wondering if anyone had more information on all the amenities this community has....does all of Centennial enjoy the same amenities? Also, with the schools are some better than others in this area? I see that depending on where in Centennial you are looking there are different schools that they are zoned for. Is the area safe? Any info would be good. Just trying to figure out where to focus in on - hubby would be working construction on the strip so don't want to far of a commute but want family-friendly, safe neighborhood with good schools (doesn't everyone LOL). Thanks!

there's a huge shopping area at the SW corner of the northern beltway and US 95.
Overall the area is pretty safe. Avoid areas where you have lots of apartment complexes as in near Cheyenne & Rainbow/ Smoke Ranch & Rainbow

I live in Centennial Hills and as far as amenities go, it has all of the necessary day to day stuff like gas stations, grocery stores, the hospital that just opened up, as well as a bit of dining now. Alot of shopping is yet to come on line, no mall in the immediate area but just about anything you may need can be found out here now. The YMCA on Buffalo is open now, which is like a community center with a small waterpark and a public swimming pool. Plenty of parks around, no aprtment complexes on my side of the freeway. The area is very safe, very quiet, and very suburban/family oriented. The schools in the area are all pretty good for the most part. My son goes to Scherkenbach Elementary school, has not had any problems with bullies or anything, the staff and administration all do a very good job. My son has no problem learning there and I couldn't be happier. Next year he is zoned for Thomas O'Roarke, which is a new school and next year will be the first so we'll see how that goes.

In summation I believe that you and your family will be very happy with the Centennial Hills area. The only complaint I have is the commute, and coming from SoCal I should realize that it's really not that bad.

Centennial Hills has plenty of stuff. You'd be fine there.

Thanks for everyone's input so far. It's such a hard decision on what area would be best suited for us. We moved from NY to Arizona and we chose an area that was a big sell for amenities but we not very happy with schools and the commute for hubby's work. Don't want to make the same mistake again. If anyone else has anything to add, please do.
