Hey
I am 19 years old, and thinking of moving from norway to Las Vegas to take a BA degree in economics at the UNLV. Is it a good university?
Is Las Vegas a safe and good place for a Student to live?
Hope some has some tips for me =)

The US is not as safe as Norway as you know.
Some parts of the Las Vegas valley are not too safe.
If you keep to yourself and be careful you will be OK.
Just try to pick an good area to live in. Will you be living in the dorms at UNLV?

I can think of many schools with better economics programs that UNLV. UNLV is known for hospitality and law. Here are the top ten in the nation for economics.
University of California-Berkeley
University of California-Los Angeles
University of California-San Diego
University of Chicago
University of Maryland-College Park
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Minnesota-Chapel Hill
University of Pennsylvania
University of Texas-Austin
University of Wisconsin-Madison

Would you have a car or need to ride the bus or walk?
That would make a big difference on where you want to rent

UNLV is NOT one of the best colleges in the country...not even close.
But hey, it's in Las Vegas, that's the most important thing...and I guess that's what is appealing to you.
Las Vegas is safe so long as you choose a decent area to live and take all the normal precautions of keeping yourself safe.
Las Vegas ain't Norway, that's for sure! Go over all the various pages of threads in this forum, there's a ton of info contained in them.
You were not specific with your particular situation, so no one can give specific advice to you as far as "Is Las Vegas a safe and good place for a Student to live?"

Do it make much diffrece where i take my BA degree in economics, i am thinking of what kind of jobs i can get / How much money i can make.
Once again, thanks for the help =)

Yes I agree with you there as well. I know of two young people who had graduated UNLV with degrees in hospitality/hotel management, etc....both were hired right out of college and are still employed with good careers..one with MGM/Mirage, one with Wynn Resorts.
