before i moved here, i learned one big thing on this forum, and it was so obvious... the people that are tearing apart vegas, begging you not to come here, etc have very low (10ish) rep points.... now i just disregard them completely... this city is everything you make it out to be... if you find fault in everything, you will hate it..... if you think you are going to be rich overnight, you won't... if you look at the crime, vegas is less than ALOT of cities, except for auto theft... so it is what it is.... good luck (just my 2 cents)

Hi,

My husband and I moved out here from Michigan two years ago and I like it much more than I thought I would. Right now, it is very hot but there is practically no humidity (A Plus compared to Michigan and Florida) and practically no bugs. The school system stinks here. It seems that the casinos don't care that their employees are not educated so they fuss whenever a room tax is proposed to go toward education. There are areas in the city or county that are really nice places to live like Green Valley Ranch, Summerlin and Centennial Hills. There are some really great deals on foreclosed homes right now. The roads are well kept but the drivers stink. When you bring your stuff through Arizona, if you have a trailer, you won't be able to go across the Hoover Dam so be sure to plan your trip that way. Water conservation is always an issue. Not sure how many more people this city can hold but welcome!

I know I haven't moved to LV yet, (two weeks and counting) but someone should tell ms Sarah that we already have trusted RE agents on this forum and we won't be dragged in by her useless advertisement.

Default moving to lv in a year or so

have been looking at homes and prices are good at this time but hopefully when we decide to move we will be okay. Been there in April visiting a relative and liked it. summerlin area is nice. have been reading the good and bad points about moving there but doesn't bother me as I can be happy anywhere and have been with several moves we've made.

being retired soon it's cheaper to live there than here in wa. state where taxes are high.

Although I was not one of the orginal posters on this thread, I also moved here from Florida (Miami) over a year ago. It was a struggle, to say the least. Things have finally leveled off. Finally got my bearings, working, learned the lay of the land, etc... As others have said -- it is what you make of it. I started out being negative and down about Vegas, and it sucked. Once I pulled myself out of the depression and made the best of it, things got better. Good luck on your move!
