So I was in the strip mall that has CVS which is near UNLV/Hard Rock. Coming out of Johnny Rockets, 2 separate groups of teens, probably 50' apart came up to me with blue shoe boxes asking me if I wanted to by sneakers. They were carrying like 4 beat up blue boxes and I just kept walking without stopping. They kept calling me so I would stop and turn around but I didn't.

Am I missing something because I doubt boxes and boxes of sneakers fell off a truck and they're looking to sell them. Note that this was in the middle of the afternoon, at like 3pm.

Well considering the area you were in, you did the right thing by continuing to walk away. No dialogue, no confrontation.

It sounds suspicious to me as well.

You didn't miss anything you picked up on signs of trouble and did not stop.

Better to be safe than sorry, for all you know they were just trying to get you to take out your wallet or money then do a snatch and grab.

Yeah, it was just odd, that's all. I guess it's a heads up for anyone. I was just visiting from NYC so I'm used to weird things happening. It reminds me of the time in midtown NY where some teen bumped his hands into my leg and dropped his glasses. He then claimed I knocked it out of his hands, and now they were scratched and I had to pay him $20 in cash. I obviously just kept walking while he was cursing me up and down.

Just think. It is likely that some one was attached to those sneakers when they were stolen. There might be some dead bodies out behind the building.

That's not a very nice area anyway. All kinds of beggers and con artists who live in an appliance box under the 15 bridge.

that location is pretty far away from the 15...my guess would be they live somewhere else .

and if they were in the parking lot by j rockets, the area isn't that bad there (security guards in the lot and the ones from HR). branch a bit west or south and the area picks up a bit of sketch, but still well lit, and not that bad as long as you don't invite badness. {my opinions are based on late night excursions to and from the double down...often walking was involved as parking by the DD is a PITA sometimes}

Maybe they were hoping that you were holding some "foot powder."
