Default Good school districts in Summerlin and Green Valley

Hi,

I would like to buy a starter home (3bed/2bath) in a good school district in Summerlin or Henderson/Green Valley. What zip codes should I look for? By the way, I do not want the house to be in an age restricted community. Thank you in advance.

Jim

i would imagine if you had school-age kids, you wouldn't want to live in an age-restricted community...

anyways, there is only one school district and that is Clark County School District...

I don't know if this link will work, but this is the zip code map I have been referring to: www.greatlasvegashomes.com/las_vegas_zipcodes.htm

Someone may have a better one here.

Good luck, I am moving Aug. 15th, my daughter will be going into 9th grade at Coronado High.

Wasn't this question just asked like 2 days ago?

Any why do people think Vegas has so many school districts? Why is it so hard to believe that there is only one?

To go even one step further...why does anyone think Clark County schools are "good" for that matter?

They have always been "standard" even decades ago before the population boom, so nothing has changed. CCSD has built schools to accomodate the masses but the QUALITY of the education has never improved.

Will your kids get a standard education here in the public school system?...Yes

Will your kids get a great education here in the public school system....NO

There just isn't enough taxes collected here to cover the cost of producing high quality education.

Strongly disagree. The school levels vary from excellent to awful. In fact funding probably has more effect in improving the awful than it does in improving the excellent. And no amount of funding will fix the bottom schools with 50% turnover ratios.

the high schools tend to be more homogeneous but even there the better schools have excellent advanced programs for the children of the well off. And for the bright or exceptional there are selective magnets.

The standard school product has never been uniform...it has always favored the well off at the expense of those not so.

Default I meant good school neighbourhood not school district

Sorry, maybe I did not present the question properly. I understand there is only one school district in ClarK County. But within the Clark County school district, there are many schools. Some schools provide excellent education, some are losy, and many falls somewhere in between.

I would like to buy a starter home in a good school zone so that my child can attend one of the best schools that Clark County has to offer. And I have pretty much decided that I want the house to be in either Green Valley or Summerlin. Now the question is how to narrow my home search in these two areas (Green Valley and Summerlin). Should I go by zip code? If so, which ones?

all the students follow the same curriculum, they will all learn the same, it all depends on the teacher and if the child is interested in learning...

Buy in 89014 - it should be zoned for GVHS, which is one of the top schools in the state.

I went there and it treated me well. IB program and AP program. I was able to take enough AP classes to have 35 (quarter) credits in college when I started. Their sports teams (esp. baseball) are all pretty good.

That is all I can speak to...
