The streets I drive on have timed lights - I don't know where you are driving. I can tell you all the lights I am going to hit from Trop/Boulder Highway to Nellis AFB. After sitting at Trop/BH I can turn right onto Nellis at I hit the Twain light for about 5 seconds and the Vegas Valley light for about 20 seconds. After that, provided I go 40 mph I will hit the charleston light for about 5 seconds (more if you go 45-50). Then I'll hit the Lake Mead light for about 10 seconds and then depending on speeds if I can run about 52 up I'll make the light at Cheyenne and be at the base. If I can't go 52 from Lake Mead to Cheyenne I'll hit that light... All said my travel time from Trop/BH to Nellis AFB is about 13 minutes.

I could demonstrate the same thing on the drive home if you desire... If you drive the same route everyday you should know what speeds you need to drive to hit all the lights, if it's 7 mph under the speed limit drive it - if it's 5 over drive it...

I've driven in some really car congested places...and in my opinion, Las Vegas isn't one of them

Las Vegas is a breeze compared to...DC, LA, Chicago and the WORST...NYC!!!

Philly is bad, I've driven that city too, it was congested in 1974 when I was last there...it's probably worse now...

I disagree with ya all. It would take me a week to name all the gaunlets in this city. Come on now we all have a few lights we must endure every day and can honestly say that in all the years we lived here we never hit the damn thing green, not even once. I can name about 10 of those too.

And it ain't just me. I remember the old LVRJ forums where we posted the worst intersections. The light on Town Center at the Snoberlin PKWY has never been made to date by hundreds of posters who particapated in the thread. Lamb and Vegas Valley I take twice a day and never made that light green in 11 years. Get off 95 at Charleston and go west. It is impossible to hit a green light till you get to Jones.

And for those claiming if they do specific speeds to catch lights green, well maybe just maybe.......but how can you? With all the slow pokes and severe congestion how can you maintain any normal speed?

Finally I have to tell you how these lights are set. Once we were working on a commercial building on a corner. The guys were installing a new traffic light there. We got to talking to them about the timing of the light. They told us no lights are syncronzed to eachother. The duration of red and green is indeed preset. Once the completion of the installation of the traffic light is done, it is simply turned on without any consideration of incoming or away going traffic. I believe that is how all the lights installed in the past 5-7 years have been turned on.

It is hard to maintain a speed. Eastern is 45 and I swear I would never believe it because everyone goes so much slower.

But someone is making those lights...don't you watch people go through when it is green?
