This doom and gloom tactic is the same tactic the democrats are throwing towards americans. They make it seem like 1/2 the country is unemployed, global warming, your home will be worth $3 next year..etc.. they are banking on people wanting change and there are those who will listen. If you have a little sense in your noggin, you know that the sky isn't falling! I just don't buy it!
On another note... Why do some people like to post info and mock those who are in a bad situation? They get their jollies off that, and then they say that the city that they live in is better..see.. Its just childish.

Does that mean that the house I bought for $280,000 six years ago, that had increased in value to over $600,000 only two years ago, is now only worth $430,000? I don't think I'll shoot myself yet.

Understood and I agree Dimm.
Never mind the housing prices there, the property taxes alone in the 5 boroughs are ridiculous!
We still laugh at ours...even after all these years of owning homes in Las Vegas...

Let's see...
Does that mean that the house I bought for $73,000 27 years ago, increased to $600,000 two years ago (going price at boom) and is now worth...$428,400?
And the house I also bought in 1998 for $212,000, increased to $450,000 (going price at boom) is now worth...$321,300?
And the house I also bought in 2000, for $190,000, increased to $465,000 (going price at boom) and is now worth...$332,010?
Gotta love the Las Vegas real estate market....it makes me

Same ones who tried to ban smoking here, out of state interests trying to crash the housing market and influence laws so they can take over another state. No thanks.. we like Nevada just the way it is.
I don't care if my house is worth 10 cents, I plan on living in it.. not treating it as an ATM.

Chinga you said it, it really doesn't matter what your house is worth if you plan to live in it, beside the lower the value the lower the taxes you pay on. I just purchased a home up in Lovelock and I may have paid too much for it, but it's new and we brought it in on our 5 acres but I plan to live there for the rest of my life with no plans to sell. If I was planning on buying and then selling immediately it wouldn't have been in Lovelock and it wouldn't have been such a beautiful home.

first off, take zillow with a grain of salt, that figure is what the house sold for at auction to the bank... they would keep bidding it up if you and i were trying to buy it..
second, yes i'm 70k in the hole on the house, BUT it is a rental and the tenant is paying the mortgage, nothing out of my pocket, actually after taxes and such, i am $50 up per month

What's crazy is how many buyers out there have no idea when they start searching for a home that this is currently the "norm!" The market is changing
