Las Vegas city leads the country in auto thefts. I dont think you will find any statistics broken down for Summerlin VS Green Valley. But you can find the individual reports in the Metro Crime page.

All these car thefts have been slowing. The "bait car" programs are catching these thugs and fear is on the street. One never knows when the car they steal is a "bait car".

If I was a car thief I would be suspicious of a car with the keys left in it. If you see keys in the ignition you can bet it is under surveillance. But no one ever said crooks are smart.

The nicer the areas means nicer cars for the thieves. Vegas is Vegas equal opportunity for all thieves everywhere.

I think in general, the big time thieves go for certain makes and models to be chopped up and sold for parts. Some cars just do not have that value and some are worth a lot in parts. I think the #1 stolen car in vegas is the 92-95 Honda Civic

Actually DS, that info from 2006 you posted is a bit outdated. This report is from the 2007 stats, can't find anything yet for 2008.

Las Vegas has gotten a bit better on this issue as you have correctly stated...

Keep your car in the garage and you are less likely to have it stolen or damaged. Leave it in the driveway or parked on the road, your chances of having it stolen greatly increase. And never leave your garage remote in your car parked outside!

And never leave your car in the garage with the garage door open a tad. Thieves can still get it, reach up for the hanging cord and open your garage that way. Take the car plus maybe break in the home too.

I looked all over that site for a date and there were none. Where the hell did you find a date?

Never mind. Why is there no stats for 2008? The donut munchers are too busy giving speeding tickets while ignoring the red light runners I guess.

My next door neighbor had her new Ford Explorer stolen. It was found in Pahrump with nothing but a broken windshield and out of gas. They tried to steal my 7 YO truck but didnt get in. They just broke the lock. Normally there is little crime in my area other then the graffiti idiots.

Theives will robb and steal everywhere. I've had several cars broken into and I had an expensive stereo stolen once out of a truck.

Just another wonderful bonus of life in Las Vegas.
