I am in Vegas and staying near the "City Center" What is this place. It looks like a huge undertaking. Is it a hotel, casino or what? What is the estimated completion time and if it is not a hotel is it businesses or condos?

There will be a whole lot of full time residents who will call City Center home and will just walk to work right down the hallway or right down stairs. But I wonder how all the traffic is going to make it to work for those who work there and live some place else.

It's a scary thought.

Do you think that the people that work in City Center will be able to afford to live there?

Workers residing at City Center will be very scarce. Maybe a few big wigs and entertainers but that is about it.

Even those who can afford it won't do it. Just not conducive to ongoing living.

I apologize, all the talk about building things made me think of it.

I doubt it. Many cant afford to live in this economy....period !

Does anyone know what those flats will cost? Im sure it will be beyond the wages paid there. Like Olecapt said...probably grossly overpaid big wigs and such. I think origionally it was hoped that artist types would move in.

My random guess of the week is that studios will start at $300k

City Center is EXACTLY the opposite of the 'Artist type". Artist type gentrify neighborhood by moving into old decrepit neighborhoods with beautiful architecture, cheap rent, and small local stores and grocers and heathly bakery type places.

City Center is an over priced, pre-planed, falsified yuppie heaven.

You cant gentrify something that is brand new. And something as (smooth) (processed) (manufactured) as city center will only appeal to 6 digit income earners that are at work more than they are home.
