Sleazy is New York City, New Orleans, Miami, Newark, Detroit, San Francisco. There are sleazy things in Las Vegas, and a couple of small areas where there is sleaze, but it's probably less than one percent of the city. I see the same sleazy stuff in very small towns all over the country. Las Vegas markets adult entertainment and exaggerates what you will actually experience here. The customers for this stuff are the "nice" people from all parts of the country. You all knew this when you came here so why complain now? And those of you who don't live here shouldn't be so hypocritical since you've got it where you are too. I've noticed and heard about more aberrated sexual behavior in just about any place I've been than I notice here. But in reality the percentage of people that sleaze appeals to is probably the same in every city and hamlet on the planet. It's probably 20% of any population group.

I haven't been behind the Stratosphere yet but I have been at MLK and Washington and that isn't bad at all. Heck, like I was telling my wife the other day this city has the nicest MLKjr DR. of any city I have ever been in. Now for a scary dangerous area go to MLK in Oakland. I drove 15 miles on the interstate with a flat tire so I didn't have to stop in Oakland to get it fixed.

One might get the feeling when driving through the very old section of down town. I dont. I love the old stuff, I just wish investment in downtown would take place at a quicker pace. But with the current depression in LV that ain't happening soon.

I do feel dirty and violated when I have to go past one of those keystone cop guards gates in some communities. Those useless wastes of human flesh think they are the great Messiah. Cop wanabes who could not pass the acadamy. They probably make the standard $8/hr unless they have a carry permit then they get $10.

One might get that feeling while walking on the strip and those illegal aliens push those brochures in your hand even if you have a child in the other. I dont agree with any censorship but that is just plain wrong.

how do you know they are illegal?

Also, what so bad about them working $8/hr, they are trying to make a living so unemployment and welfare don't have to give them anything and they aren't on the street asking you for money...they are trying to make a living too...

I don't feel the sleaziness in the porn/SinCity sense...every major city has their share of it. Nor do I feel it in the crime/homelessness sense, either...again, every major city has that, too. Where I do feel it in LV is the everyone's-out-to-make-a-buck attitude...kind of like having a conversation with a used-car salesman. Now, I know I am not speaking for everyone that lives in LV...there are some great down-to-earth honest people there, I'm sure (those are the ones that post here!) But there are lots of hustlers, con-artists and "entrepreneurs"...all working for the tip.

I used to live outside of Dallas, TX, when I was about 10. I would see more homeless people there then I do here. Granted, I do not really venture into the areas that they tend to congregate at. Most that I see, I think are wannabes, that probably make better money then I do!

I'd bet they work for a lot less than 8/hr. If they made 8hr they could afford to clean themselves up and get an honest job. Unless they were ILLEGAL!

My uncle was working for a company in Las Vegas, I think Wakenhut. He was making pretty good money. He had only been there for a couple of months, when he was made a manager at a property. They were short staffed, so with overtime he was bring home at least $1000.00 a week.
