Moving from Michigan to Vegas.. questions galore
So I know that you can't really tell what it's like to live in vegas by visiting so I am trying to get every angle there possibly is with my research.
I'm looking to move either by the end of this current semester or March right now I'm just selling off what I don't want to take with me and putting it into my vegas fund. There should be 3 of us moving out there. When I am out there the first week of October what Pet friendly rental places are the best to look at? I don't want to end up with a lease in a place I hate. is there a way to find private landlords renting their houses out?
Be honest what's up with the job situation? I am perfectly content in a service oriented job while I'm going to school I am majoring in Elementary education and face it there isn't a stable job market here and either way after getting my degree I'd have to move anyway so why not do it while I still can. I am just fine working as a housekeeper in one of the hotels on the strip. Do you happen to know what kind of wages you can get with that?
I will take all opinions in positive or negative I need just a general "this is what it's like here" from someone who physically lives there and especially people that have moved to vegas from other places around the states.

You are receiving an "F" for failure to research previous forum contributions!
mod interpose: Although a bit terse, tortoise's message is a reminder of our T.O.S.:

Please use the Search this Forum tool to find info you need, as much has already been written about schools, jobs, weather, crime, prices, rentals, walkability and other aspects of a location. If you don't find it, please sign in and ask your questions. New users should use the Search this Forum tool before posting a question that may have already been answered. Let us know that you have searched the forums, so we don't assume otherwise.
When asking questions about a location, give as much detail as you can, so we can zero in on the info you need. If house hunting, what is your price level or rental amount. How many BR's, Baths, square feet, lot size, etc, do you need? Pets? SFH, TH, Condo, mobile home? In-town, rural, college town, military town, mountains? Schools for children? Gated community, golf course community, active senior community? Do you need to stable a horse? Is there an RV or boat trailer to consider? The more you tell us, the sooner our regular posters can reply with specificity. Same for any other criteria you have. Please avoid open-ended requests like "I'm moving to your city, tell me EVERYTHING I need to know."
All posts unrelated to local matters will be deleted or moved. Threads dealing with controversial topics that often degenerate into flame wars, such as politics or religion, may be moved, closed, or deleted by moderators at their discretion without any warning to the participants.

how does one actually get into such places? I am open to work anywhere I just want to know the best way to go about things for the fastest response I'm not above any job, a job is a job and it takes hard work to get where you want to be.

i would recommend using a site like yahoo.com's real estate section to look for housing, as you can enter your price range as well as some other parameters, and come up with a list to look at when you have the time.
other sites to use are apartments.com and craigslist. if anything, just to give you more perspective as to what is available.

If you are likely to end up going to UNLV and working on the strip stay to the South and South east. 89123,89120,89014,89074,89052,89183.
Those provide good access to both the strip and UNLV.
You find apartments from the apartment rating sites. Note that pet friendly is a big deal and often costs.
For a group of three I would go with a condo or house. For young enclaves try the south strip...Park Avenue/Manhattan and surrounds.
If you get closer in time you can drop me a DM and I will send you the listings from the MLS for condos and homes.
For employment service jobs on the strip are available. Generally pay above $12 an hour. The culinary union places come with full medical and other benefits. It is tighter than it was but still livable.
