From 150 N. Durango Drive to the airport at noon on a weekday.

I'm teaching a class that gets out at 12:15pm and I have a 1:30pm flight. I don't think I'll have enough time to get a rental car and go back to the rental center and then take the shuttle to the airport - so I'm going to have a cab pick me up and go right to the airport. I'm on Southwest which I think means I have to take the monorail in the airport as well!

Not even close, especially with the security lines.

If the cab gets there on time, the very least time to make it to the airport with no traffic is 20-25 min. Cab ride should be around $40-45. Unless you're not checking in anything you have a slim chance. Otherwise forget it, unless again you have NO security line and you can run fast.

Here are the two companies I have used and are most reliable:

A-Cab 365-5686

PSS (sedan service) 248-7706

Would recommend PSS. Call them up ASAP and set up a time call. They will be there on time and charge $42 flat rate to the airport.
Don't mess with other cab companies. A-Cab only deals with the westside and are the most reliable.
That said still go with PSS as you're cutting it so close

*the driver should take Durango to Summerlin Pkwy to US 95 to I-15 (the highways). If he goes through the surface streets it will take longer.
** Normally traffic is not bad going down that way at that time.

I'm going to be the optimistic one here. At Noon on Wends, according to historic traffic on google maps it should be wide open (the whole valley is green). Therefore the drive should be about 20 minutes to 25 max.

This puts you down to the airport at 1240pm. According to historical wait times for the C concourse (WN's normal departure gates) at noon the average wait is 7 minutes with the max being 9 and at 1pm the average waittime is 8 minutes with a max of 15 minutes.

Seems like you should be fine to me assume the following happens:
1) There is not an accident on the freeways
2) The cab is on time

I routinely leave my house (12 minute drive to the airport, but since it's surface streets it is consistant) exactly 60 minutes before my flights out of the D concourse and make it with more than enough time, even parking at economy parking. However, if you aren't a frequent traveler I wouldn't recommend leaving when you are planning on leaving for the airport.

What I can recommend if you do miss your flight is that you should claim the "flat tire rule". That basically says you had a flat on the way to the airport and as long as you can show up at the gate within 2 hours of the scheduled departure you should be reaccomidated without any extra fees, etc. But as always YMMV.

Oh yeah, and just becuase you are on southwest doesn't mean you will have to take the monorail. With the higher C gates it is better to walk.

Do you really need that stress? Take the next flight. Goof off and spend time walking the stores or have dinner at the airport till the next flight.

Some one said the roads are wide open at that time. No LV roads are ever wide open.....ever. It is rush hour here 24/7. Traffic is ferocious even at noon. Assuming no accidents, and that is a real big assumption, the north/west end of 215 should be ok. Once you hit Decatur it will clog up. There is lots of construction there now with only 2 lanes open.

In my experience in MaCarren, one day you will find no line at all in security and the next time it is a mile long. No rhyme or reason. Makes no sense.

Taxies charge a surcharge for airport pick ups and drop offs too.

I am with everyone else here. You cant do it.

Since I won't have a rental car - then I'll also have to get *to* Durango Drive from my hotel (Stratosphere). if I use PSS to take me to Durango Drive - will they give me a break on the trip to the airport that afternoon?

I'm flying to Tulsa at 1:25, the next flight at 3:30 is full and the next flight at 5:00 gets me there at 11pm and then I have to get my rental car and drive to Oklahoma City getting me to my hotel a 2am and then I teach a class the next day a 7am.....so I really want to make this flight!
