I don't think it's worth your time going to Mesquite.

How about buying a few cheap wall clocks a Wal-Mart, go to a local gun range, and rent an AK-47? I think that it'd be a real blast.

- He is arriving this week. I am thinking about going up to Mt. Charleston and just relax up there for a bit.
-We can also go to the Discount Firearms shooting range at Highland Rd. , but he can do that any day back in the midwest. So, this a maybe.
-We've seen Hoover Dam together before so that's out.
-Valley of Fire/Moapa Valley seems like a good place for him to check out. He loves History and beautiful scenery. 50 minutes away though, but it seems like a good time killer.
More suggestions are welcomed!

If you go to the Valley of Fire, be sure to go to the Lost City Museum in Overton, especially if he is into history. Also the Springs Preserves is a good choice. Lots of history stuff there too. If he's here on Wednesday, there is a program at the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park on Entertainers of Classic Las Vegas. There is a reception at at 6:00 and the program is at 7:00, with a $3.00 donation. They have these programs several times a year and it's always something interesting to us old timers. Last one I went to was about early TV in Las Vegas, and I went to one by some very senior citizens who had been here all their lives about Las Vegas way, way back.

I thought the suggestion (in another thread) about the horseback riding tours at Red Rock sounded fun!
