Disagree. That city is in the extreem NW of Alaska in the bush. Fuel likely has to be flown in or trucked in during the winter. In addition, with only a few local roads the locals rarely need to fill up.

I'm very surprised that it hasn't gone up here. Usually the west is more expensive.

I'm a Brit, I think gas is ridiculously cheap! When it gets over $9.50 a gallon, I will start to worry...the Brits pay about $5.50 a gallon in tax!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with LouB....
When I was stationed in France in the mid 60's we paid nearly $3.00 per gallon on the French Economy.....

BUT we do need to import some English cars with their high milage.

Agreed. Overseas gas is very expensive, but there are often better public transportation options...

Overseas people are often living closer to work and cities are built UP and not out.

America depends on its interstate system to do commerce. High fuel prices leads to high food, goods and services...etc. We have too make it cheaper to fill those big rigs and trucks.

and we need to rebuild the US Rail system.....allow automobiles to be used in the cities and towns and other means for inter-city and inter-state travel.
