I moved from NY about two weeks ago and I really need to find work. I saw a tv ad about a job fair going on at the tropicana hotel this tuesday sept 16th at 10am. Is that near the airport? Or the other side of the strip? COX communications will be there and that is my background. Thanks

I found a flyer

The Tropicana Hotel (The Trop) is located on the Strip (aka: Las Vegas Boulevard) at Tropicana Avenue. Easy to find.

Welcome to autotopia. Now you'll need a two car garage...three if you need storage or a work area.

Those job fairs can be a good place to get info, make contacts, meet HR people, and even find a job. Nevada JobConnect sometimes has a booth, but just for info, so you might want to go to the office and register for work, check the listings, etc. If you filed for unemployment in NY you are supposed to do that anyway.

Haha I hear ya..

Ok here is what you do.. take the 4 train to the 59th street station and transfer to the.. errr wait.. never mind... just kidding..

I am an ex nycer as well.. took time to get used to getting around, and yes I broke down years ago and got a vehicle. Now I drive all over the place.

I think there are busses that run up and down the strip and if worse comes to worse you can always call a cab

I have a few friends who used Job Connect to get pretty decent jobs.. they offer a good service and the trop is fairly easy to get to as well.

I'm from NY too and planning to move to Vegas. I was there visiting in June. I rented a car and it was easy getting around. The thought of using busses (no subway) freaks me out. Busses are mindbendingly slow in most cities (even NYC) but that is just my observation. I'm interested to know how much you think is enough to have saved before moving if you don't already have a job? Where are you living? Just curious because I'm moving there in the next few months. Good luck to you.

I would say 6-8 months of living expenses. AT LEAST.

Try the monorail if you miss that subway feeling. Come to think of it...the subways in NY are much more efficient.
