Guess a person has to stay every month in a hotel to discover that they are redoing the rooms. Sorry to have misled on the Mirage. it is pretty but so was NYNY before they removed the central park theme. Now all hotels are going to the W. look.

in my opinion, bellagio is overpriced and the clientele doesnt speak much english.... venetian - very nice mirage - tower suites are gorgeous - ballys boring - monte carlo seemed like a upgraded holiday inn - luxor very small rooms in pyramid - wynn beautiful - tropicana and circus circus implode them already - rio older but nice - palms jr suites were nothing special - hard rock wow, guys love the view - Downtown the club - compares to holiday inn (worth the $14 i paid to stay there) - fitzgeralds decent for the money - plaza - step above motel 6 - Golden Nugget have been told beautiful but i stayed there about 5yrs ago, had a nice view of a brick wall... but now at least the pool is beautiful - stratosphere decent for the price - cant remember the name in Primm,, it was a dump as was the place in Laughlin.

Don't forget to check "Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon", Although I have not stayed there yet, Travocity gives it a Popularity of #9 of all the Hotels in Las Vegas. It's only 4 or 5 floors so it is often overlooked, but from all the reviews I have read you can't go wrong for the price and location. Also, if you can get lucky you'll have a great view of the Belliagio Fountains across the street.

No big deal, it's hard to keep up with which hotels are keeping up their quality and which are going down the tubes. MGM is making a clear attempt to keep the Mirage brand relevant. The Mirage is in the company name (MGM Mirage) after all.
Also, the new volacano gets lit up in a week or two. It is supposed to have bigger and badder eruptions set to music by Andy Hart and is built by the folks that built the Bellaggio fountains.

Paris
I'd give Paris a shot. Great ambience, centrally located and right across the street from the Bellagio fountains (for considerably less than you'd pay to stay at Bellagio). The Eiffel Tower restaurant is excellent but expensive, not a bad choice for a special occasion such as this.
