i didnt think it mattered what the backyard looked like.... heck, i'm in a fairly expensive community 300k+ and my neighbors backyard is unlandscaped and full of dog #### which they take care of about once a month

i got dinged for no kidding having 3 weeds in the front yard that were 2 inches long......yet the neighbor next door who is selling their house and doesn't live there anymore has a yard FULL of weeds and they are about a 12-14 inches high

i'll tell you another one, when i bought my 2nd house in vegas last february, i was there for about 10 days to close the deal etc.. upon arriving back in ohio, i had 3 violations... dead grass, which i completely pulled out and replaced with desert stone while i was there....2. an overgrown bush... and 3 oil stains on the driveway....

So, I dont get HOA's. IF I own the property, and the house, I can do whatever I want. Its my house, i own it. And if thats not true, why would you want to live and own something that you can't do anything you want to it. Thats like buying a Ford, only to have Ford make some arbitrary rules that even though you own the car, you can only drive it on days that do not end in 'y'
