Default Bifer went over the Rainbow Bridge

The old feral Bifer made it into the new year in fine style. She was living well and enjoying life. A little older and a little slower but still prowling the backyard.

Sunday she began to eat less. by Thursday she had stopped. Friday she was only semi-conscious so we rushed her off to the Vet.

She had lost kidney function and any reasonable fix could not work with her other problems and her life style.

So we sent her over the bridge.

So long Bif...it was really nice to have had you so long.

RIP, Bif...

So sorry to read your sad news. We've said goodbye to so many pets now, one would think it would get easier but it never does. My heart goes out to you.....

Olecapt, I haven't been on this board long, but how can I not think the best about someone as obviously kind-hearted as yourself. I'm so sorry about Biffer, she was lucky to have found herself on your doorstep. I can relate because I am a habitual softie when it comes to strays. My newest cat was a sickly stray who now lives in my house and whom I grudgingly claim as "ours" much to my husband's chagrin and resignation. Anyway, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry about your loss olecapt. If it makes you feel any better they say cats have nine lives so she'll be ok unlike humans who never come back.

Heyla, Mom^2! It's good to finally have you back on the board, where you belong.

I'm just coming up for air between Masonic meetings. We had a funeral this morning, and a Rainbow Girls installation in about...12 minutes. I've got a short speaking part, so I need to get back to studying. ^_^;

My condolences, Olecapt. Sometimes I think our furkids seek us out for a reason, Biffer obviously knew you were kind-hearted enough that you'd provide the best home for her.

I can empathize with a difficult situation, my eldest ferret is slowly slipping & I know I'm only buying time for him. He had 3 previous owners before I rescued him 4 years ago (all of ours are rescues), as best I can tell he's 9 or 10, which is old for a ferret. One canine is broken, the other yellowish-brown (bad teeth since I got him), so he doesn't eat kibble any more. He's insulinomic & on a heavy dose of prednisone, requires personal feeding a few times a day & seems like skin & bones compared to the boy we once knew. When it's obvious he's suffering too much (very close), we'll have to let him go. In the meantime we'll spoil him with all the love & attention we can provide.

They're the best pet I've ever had (nature's clowns, make me smile every day), but I turn into a little girl when the time comes to let them go. No matter how much you think you're prepared, you never are. Kudos to you for providing Biffer a good life, Olecapt.
