unethical? not at all since he was there first.

I don't think he said anything like that.. he just said you should be careful, and do your research on the area first, because some people might not want to live next to a gun dealer.

I think what most everyone has taken exception with was the title you began your post with: "Before you move here..." It personally gave me the impression that if I read it, I was going to be let in on some top secret insider information and that once I became informed by this local poster, all my well thought out plans to relocate there would be put in file 13 because now I had the real inside scoop about LV. You did in fact begin by profiling. The facts and incidents are well worth knowing and to split hairs over how many times did this happen, when did it take place and and how long has the gun store been there is really doing nothing more than splitting hairs.
Bottom line...what you write of is a sad fact all over this country now. I could have appreciated your post more if you had simply titled it "Reseach neighborhoods before buying," and omit the "here."

That's many..
These are rare events. They occur in every quarter of the US and the world. That there are only 4 quickly reachable probably indicates Las Vegas is better than many places.
So the correct response was..."Only four? Las Vegas is a lot safer than (fill in the blank)"

Well he implies that having a gunsmith in the neighborhood is bad. I don't know that is true. Now a predator is a bad thing as is the presence of any felon. But a gunsmith? I don't think so...and certainly no place near the same class as a pig farm.

exactly my point. the OP makes it sound as if school shootings happen at an astounding rate here (aka many).
we all agree that once is too often....but in the grand scheme of things shootings are rare, albeit tragic, incidents.
to the OP...look around this forum - the 'violent' side of LV has been previously discussed ad nauseam. what your saying is important (e.g., do some research before moving anywhere), but the way you are saying it smacks of the nightly news.

You are stuck on this pig farm deal. With pigs you only have to fear downwind days when the fine aroma drifts your way. A little stink won't kill your kids or kidnap them or hurt them sexually or physically. Again, like the first post said - RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY. I don't think "pig farm" hits the yellow pages, could be wrong....but who would buy and think to ask along the way, "Any good pig farms in the neighbhorhood? Next door neighbor selling guns?" The pig farm won't shoot your children at the school bus stops.
What about the ostrich farm you missed that is close Floyd Lamb State Park? What about the Gilcrease Orchards where they have a lot of traffic during that once-a-year fruit picking thing? What about the gay guy off Ann Road that hosts the gay rodeo every year that has a lot of traffic and possibly people practicing - coming and going - since he hosts rodeos?
I zoned in on telling people to do their homework. I also zoned in on guns because that is the only deadly and most violent kind of thing to live next too, especially mixed with pedophiles. The other things are mere inconveniences - not fatal.

Gangs
People are fearful of gang violence if you read many of the other threads. Let's take my last statement into consideration. I have yet to hear the Crips or Bloods terrorizing the ostrich farm, the pig farm, the rodeos - gay or straight. I have yet to hear on the news about the Latin Kings going berzerk over a bad apple at Gilcrease Ranch.
However, I have heard about shootings, death, killing, kids kicked out of school due to guns in their book bags.
I chose to deal with the most dangerous situation to post my opinion and make my statement. This matters. Death by ostrich has not been known to be listed on a death summary or certificate. Wafting pig manure has also, to my knowledge, not been deemed as something lethal. Guns??? HMMM....Think about it....I targeted the subject that I feel would mean the most to a new FAMILY relocating to Las Vegas. Since the wind blows daily here, I am quite certain one way or the other they will whiff the pigs and ostriches. The rodeo? Drive by a horse property and you know what they're all about. There's no hiding cattle, small barrels, horses and arenas. Try to hide the ostriches as well - they aren't compact birds. Hide the many acres of fruit trees? Impossible!! Guns? Well....he is not forced to advertise in his front yard so how would anyone know what is next door to him? How would they know the potential danger? They wouldn't. Again, my reason for concentrating on this one subject. It has danger, fatalities affiliated, and is not known. This was the initial post request - the example used - all urging people to do their homework/research before they buy a home.
Funny thing too - all the examples listed on my posts for fruits, pigs, birds, guns...it's all in the 89131 zip code.
