Embrace and appreciate LV for what it is, not what you think it should be.

There's ALOT to do and see outside of town. If you're bored, take a run up to Mesquite and enjoy the landscape en route....there's so many great things to do and see. Las Vegas is what it is. People need to accept that.

I live in Vegas and Gardnerville both. I still enjoy all Vegas has to offer!

Not only that, but the waitstaff at most of the places I went to were very RUDE! That is inexcuseable for a city that relies on tourism to pay the lights. Everything there is overpriced, too. The Strip does have a great variety of things to do but it gets so crowded with all the pedestrians and traffic that it is a nightmare if you want to just walk around and check things out. I'm not saying that it's a bad place, just that Vegas gets props that it doesn't deserve.
Overrated? In which area does Las Vegas rate high on a global level?

Fake? I'd beg to disagree. It's as real as it gets. A different kind of reality, but one geared towards fun. I've never had better service anywhere...the appeal of Vegas imho is that ordinary people can truly escape and stay in places they could never afford to stay in anywhere else on Earth and get treatment that they could not afford anywhere else. It's so inexpensive and you get so much. We stayed at the Flamingo in 05-air and 4 nights from Minneapolis was $600-for TWO people! Not each, but for the both of us! Vegas is also close to a lot of natural beauty, which i Highly recommend people experience when they go there to really appreciate all the area has to offer. My wife and I and her sister and brother in law did an ATV tour in the Valley of Fire. Absolutely breathtaking! And that night we had dinner at Prime and had dessert on the terrace with the fountains and music. Nowhere else could we do all that!
