Being one myself...Sagitarius not scorpion. Gifts work great, chocolate...maybe nice dinner. You've already taken that first step - remembering it!

LOL, rum will slow a Sagitarrian down significantly!

Hey...I'm just happy that abhaya didn't suggest that I shine a black light on her and have a smashy-crunchy birthday party for her!

I too am worried...
I live in first floor apartment in Las Vegas and was warned that there was a chance I might see a scorpion because I was located close to the pool. I wasn't too worried about it until the second day I was in my apartment and I did see a scorpion. In my bathroom. On the wall. I totally freaked out and my boyfriend tried to kill it but it got away from him and ran into a crack between the sink and the wall. We sprayed for scorpions and other bugs all around the apartment but I'm still petrified that it might still be alive and biding its time.

Bummer...First thing you probably want to do is buy some caulk and/or grout, seal up every single crack, hole, or gap you find; then invest in some sticky traps. The pool thing, from what I've seen: they not only like the water (sometimes we find them in the pool drowned), but they also like the roaches and crickets that live near the water. Make sure your apartment manager is spraying well for those types of pests, and it may help the scorpion problem. And never, ever leave clothes or towels on the floor in that bathroom (quick lesson when my wife left her bikini on the floor overnight...luckily she felt it on her hand before she put it on). They love to sleep under any kind of clothing, but they really love wet clothing in the summer. Seeing them in your apartment is probably not specific to the pool, though...once they move into a structure, they will spread out in search of food and nesting, so a different apartment in the building may or may not help.
But, look on the bright side: you can easily move from an apartment (may be an excuse to wiggle out of your lease)...owning a house with them bites.
Curious, what side of town are you on? Any new construction nearby?
