There are two beautiful Pueblo Revival (aka: Santa Fe or southwest style) homes for sale on either side of me in a quiet, small (32 units) gated community in 89129. My wife would like to buy either one of them. What she thinks they have that ours doesn't I don't know. She hates pools as much as I do. Both are great buys, both have pools and spas, both were seriously upgraded during construction, both one owner. I'm hoping to get neighbors at least as nice as the ones I had. A fishing buddy would be nice, one with a boat would be nicer, one that plays nickle, dime, quarter poker even better, one that has a 4x4 would be perfect, one with a gorgeous 18 year old daughter that likes to flirt and hang out at the pool in bikinis, well, I'd probably fix breakfast for you every morning.

Henderson and Summerlin are nice areas in Vegas, 2 of the best according to what I've read from the people who reside in Vegas, but those two also are the most expensive ones, I think.

Let me know how your journey goes. I wish you all the success man. I can't wait until I leave this damn cold east side.
i live in revere bunny d! i lived in las vegas for 3 yrs until my husband passed. then we came back to revere. when my daughter finishes high school 2010 we will be moving back i miss it soooo much. we will be going there for x-mas vacation. in dec. we willl live in the northwest side 89129. closer to the mountains. sure the heat can get you but with central air and pools - no problem. i should know i have lupus so i'm prone to the heat and extreme cold, but i did it. we drove from revere to vegas and back. it was a great trip.

Green Valley is not in 89052.

89052,89178,89129 and 89012 (where GV is) are all safe. There are areas in each less safe than areas in the other three.

If you want the best you must be older than 55 and move to Sun City Summerlin in 89134.
Sorry,my bad. Looking so many area lately, get mix up. Have my eye on 89134 first. Try to buy a house over there when the market is down and move in when i'm 55. But my realtor told me you cannot buy a house in Sun city if you are younger than 55. So looking for the second best safe city right now.

Your Realtor is wrong. You can perfectly well buy a house in Sun City Summerlin at any age. The requirement is that one of the persons residing there be 55+. So you can buy there and rent if you choose. One renter must be 55+.

Olecapt will move in with you so you can meet the requirement of at least one geezer. It's part of the service.

Just kidding. Olecapt and I are walking distance from Sun City. They wouldn't let us in because they didn't believe we qualified.

Does that mean that a person who is 55 can move in her kids in their 20s?

I loved the houses in your development- we would have bought one when they were new if we hadn't just bought a few months prior. Hey- I'll make you a deal- you buy one of them for me, and I'll provide the 4x4 and boat, we can go play poker every Friday night, go fishing every Saturday, and I'll even go find a few 18 y/o's to hang by the pool. Whatta ya say??

Yup....nobody less than 19 however. There is a flat ban on anyone less than 19 staying more than 60 days or so. And it is an issue that will lead to enforcement activity.

They also generally wave the 55+ rule for widows...but not for kids.

Eyes will become famous soon enoughEyes will become famous soon enough
I am in the process of moving to L/V
I believe you need to get a Nevada License to sell ..
You may be able to pick up a job in rental office.
Some may offer discount or include housing as part of your pay.
It gets too hot in summer to use the pools much in the day
The winter can be cold.
The wind can be a constant.

I see it as a great adventure.
Job is why we moved .. try to secure one asap as the area has some of the highest unemployment in the country. Housing is still to reach it's bottom and speculating buyers are plentiful.
But .. you need to get in first.
I don't know about the schools.
There are many free and cheap things to do, casinos and restaurants cater to locals.
Skiing the beach and Mexico are close enough to drive .. about 4 hours to each.

In the end .. each place has pluses and minuses.
Will you miss your family and friends?
