Default trucks

i read on these posts that if you look around your neighborhood and see a certain number of trucks, that sort of determines if its a bad area or not. i don't remember which post exactly, but can anyone elaborate on this?

I think that the assumption is that where there are a large quantity of trucks, there are also a large quantity of construction workers. As we all know, residential construction has absolutely tanked in Vegas. Thusly, alot of unemployed construction workers equal alot of foreclosures.

Of course I could be entirely off base here, as I don't recall the post you are referencing.

I vaguely remember seeing it and Olecapt taking exception cause he owns a truck.....but then I would think that "OleCapt" would be reason enough to avoid a neighborhood....

Default Assumptions

I wouldn't necessarily say that trucks equal a bad neighborhood. There have been a lot of trucks in my area, primarily because of foreclosed homes. The house next door was owned by some very nice people. When they moved out, their renters trashed the place and it required thousands of dollars in renovations (and weeks of work). There were trucks there every day for almost two months.

I read the post about the trucks probably about 8 or 9 months ago and from what I took out of it, I felt the poster was referring to the residents of that development owning the trucks. He mentioned looking at the neighborhood after 6 p.m. I further took it to mean that if there were a lot of pickup trucks, it therefore was a very blue collar neighborhood and if one didn't want to live in a blue collar neighborhood, this was one way of figuring that out.

and that may well be true in the east and midwest.....but out west, truck ownership is almost a given....everyone has one regardless of their collar color.....

I take great pride in driving the ugliest truck on the face of the earth......

I'll go back and see if I can find the post where that was written. I remember the topic was neighborhoods and I got the impression the poster lived in LV when they wrote it.

Yes, I am still stuck in Ohio waiting to relocate to LV and I think pickups are seen in our higher priced neighborhoods too. That's probably because this automotive manufacturing area is hurting so badly economy wise, the blue collar worker is currently out of work and driving a beater car.

Olecapt posted before about the number of pickup trucks parked in a neighborhood after 6p.m as to what kind of neighbors you will have. I would think he would be referring to the old beat up type pickups, not the nice shiny newer one's I see a lot in my neighborhood. It's not just guys that drive them, but women too.
