Like someone said, any city you go on a vacation and living in that particular city is different. If you have lots of cash, living in Romania or Kazakhstan where Borat is from it would be fun.

While my family was not poor, we were not rich by any means. I did not have the advantage of having my college paid for and my mother moved to CA when I was 18. My sisters, brother and I were pretty much forced to make it on our own and I think it has made us smarter and stronger.
We all own our own homes and have figured out how to do what we needed to do without leaning on our parents.
They gave us wings, we had to learn to fly.
Although it was not always easy, I believe it made us better people.

So is living in Vegas as fun as vacationing in Vegas?

LOL
But seriously, I lived in North Italy for 3 years and had a blast out there. Lived only 45 minutes from Venice and took the train to Flolence, Milan and Rome every other month. Italy was great the first two years but by my third year I got pretty bored with the scene and was ready to move on. Plus it was expensive at times. I would run into tourist families from back in the states that saved up thousands of dollars just to come to my backyard(Venice) to sight see. They would always tell me how lucky I was to be living there, yet they never knew how anxious I was to see something new.
Kinda miss it now.

Now you behave and answer my questions like a mature adult like everyone else.

First, you probably shouldn't get snippy with olecapt b/c he is super nice and helpful to everyone on these boards and deserves your respect.
Second I dare say Vegas is indeed very different from where you are from.... A large percentage of the college students here work part time or full time to pay their own way through college. So a lot of the people you meet in your classes may not be available socially, i.e. they will be working whenever they are not in class. I have friends who work full time as servers and cocktail waitresses who may be up until 3 or 4 am working, then nap for an hour or two and go to a full day of classes. If you're nice to them, they might be able to hook you up at their restaurant/bar though...

Or maybe you can offer them a room in exchange for friendship. Could work.

If one has to actually ask this question, then it appears that LV would not be for you. It is that type of thinking that gives LV its transient reputation.

Cool. Ofcourse I'd be nice to them. Hopefully they'll fancy me haha. I know how to show a woman a good time and no I don't mean in bed. I mean fancy romantic dates with lots of laughs and good conversation oh and good wine too haha. Well I do try my best and I think girls enjoy that stuff haha. I know I do even though it might sound weird for a guy.

You know - all joking around aside, I'll be completely honest in this thread. Take some of this post and really think about it. I probably have 10-12 years on you, but I am not old.
I had a great job offer out here, a lot more $$$ than I was making in Michigan and it was time to leave my last job. I had friends back home, but I wanted to move out here and meet some new people, have some fun.
I am defiantly not into the "club scene / bar scene" but I defiantly enjoy my vices. This town has been absolutely horrible for me. I gamble all the time, and not in a "Good" way. Its a very solitary thing and it keeps me from making friends. There is NO culture here at all. Even the art fair in downtown on Friday they sell alcohol. Everyone is here for their own agenda, and very wary of outsiders. This town can DESTROY you if you are weak willed, and I am finding out how weak willed I am.
Overall, its just different from the Midwest I am used to. Go figure, the happiest I have been has been while I am dating a girl from Iowa. There is just a different (westcoast?) mindset here.
Its not all bad, there is some stuff I like here, and the all night parties can be fun. Its more an attitude and a mindset, and what you want out of your life.
Call it culture shock, call it weak willed, just know your limitations and whats truly important. The first time you lose the rent on the blackjack table is a serious wake up call, hopefully one you will never have to get.
