Exotic Meat ...buffalo and venison
Sorry about the title....I didn't know how else to put it
I am looking for Buffalo and Venison. Does anybody know if there is a place where I can buy this here in Las Vegas?
My husband used to get a deer for us every November in MI and we had a friend who raised buffalo. I am really missing some dishes that I used to make with these types of meat.
Thanks!!

Whole Foods Market usually has buffalo but I don't know about venison. It probably wouldn't be wild deer. Why doesn't he go hunting here?

He hasn't run into to many people here who hunt and doesn't really know where to go. Hunting is mainly a "male bonding" thing so I guess it is not as fun without your "pack".
He has "offered" to go back to MI for a week to go to deer camp but I would think it would be more hassle than it is worth to get the meat back here.

Larry's Meat Market. Valley View just north of Alta.
There is also a place called the Butchers Block on South Rainbow that sells Exotic meat...might be worth a call.
I also remember their is a deer processing place someplace north side but I don't remember anything else about it.

Finding a place to hunt is easy. Finding someone to go with that won't do a Dick Cheny on you is another thing. You're right, it's not only no fun, it's very dangerous to go alone. I haven't hunted in years, before they had tag drawings. Not sure how it works now, but I think you have to get in the drawing way in advance, and choose the area you want hunt in. There are only so many tags per area I believe. Used to be you'd buy a tag at a sporting goods store and go anyplace you wanted. You can actually hunt deeer and elk on the back side of Mt. Charleston, but there are way better places than that with more deer. Best place is Elko County near the Idaho border in a place called Jarbidge. I used to go to Jack's Creek about 65 miles from Elko. You can also hunt Prong Horn Antelope up there too.
