Area 51

That is a place that I would definitely stay away from.

The ATM machine in any casino. So many have gambled away the next month's rent...and this week's groceries.

Looking at Spring Valley Pkwy area near Laurelwood Park. I just looked at your zip code map & see that area is pink in overall, yellow in burglaries & red in stolen cars. I was all ready to make the move...now starting to get concerned. Oh...what to do....what to do....????

You will be fine. That is well out toward Rainbow and pretty well out of the high crime area. Note that car thefts are coming down very strongly in recent years.

A new version of that crime chart will be out shortly as the new zip statistics appear available from the census.

Thanks so much for the input Olecapt. Your knowledge is most appreciated and helps a lot, especially for someone who will be new to the area, is trying to keep house payments in the 'affordable' zone and going by info they find on the internet, help from a real estate agent, trips to LV and gut instinct. I really liked the area.........(Spring Valley Pkwy). Liked Henderson too, but too $$$ & too many hoa's. Got those here in Calif. ....they stink if you're in a bad one.

The area is fine, btw I have some photos of Laurelwood Park which I uploaded on my photoblog at Skyscrapercity a few weeks ago. If you really like parks then Spring Valley is a good choice. Not far from Laurelwood Park is the West Flamingo Park and if you cross Rainbow on Spring Valley Parkway, head West and there are a couple more parks, Paul Meyer and an elementary school park. It is a short walking distance from Laurelwood. Spring Valley Park on Buffalo and Flamingo is great too and behind it Prosperity Park. Goodluck with your move wherever it may be.
