Where to raise 3 kids near/in vegas????
Hi, We're moving to the Vegas area with 3 kids. I thought it would be easy to go online & find out which area is bet to raise a family, but thats nt the case. As does everyone, we want a good school (elementary & highschool) and a nice, safe neighborhood to live in. We will be renting at first, until we decide where exactly we want to plant roots, so if anyone has any advice as to where to raise a young family in or near Las Vegas, please reply or email me! Thanks Christine

The Northwest/Centennial where we live with our kids is fine, you could also check out Aliante which has good parks and neighborhoods.

I second this. I live in the 89131 zip code and have an 8 year old son. There are only 2 other areas I would rather live, and they are both a bit more expensive as far as housing goes. The schools in this area are on par with the top schools in the valley, and the neighborhood is very quiet and family friendly. Many parks including the new YMCA with aquatic complex and the second largest library in the valley.

Go to...
Schools of Las Vegas Rankings
Look at the high school rankings. Pick any school in the top half...down to number 20 or even 21. The top 6 or so are magnet schools with entrance requirements. The next set are the workable public high schools.
Cetennial, Shadow Ridge and Arbor View are all nice shiny new schools with reasonably good home bang for the buck available.
Coronado, Green Valley and Palos Verdes are also fine but the housing will cost more.
The elementary and middle schools generally work out in the good high school districts but you can also check those rankings when you are consdering a place. The upper half are generally OK.
