Do you drink the water?
I have been drinking bottled water and diet Mt Dew for so long, I'm having a hard time going back to tap water. I know...bottled water is just tap from somewhere else, lol. And Mt Dew probably has a lot of tap water in it too.
But I see all of these commercials about how our tap water is soooo good. I haven't been able to get tap water past my nose since about 1990.
Is the water good? I don't mean safe, I mean good?

I don't think so. I buy the bottled water from Fresh & Easy, $2.99 a case, and one of the best tasting ones.

I don't think the tap water tastes as good as it did before I started drinking bottled water, or water from the RO filter. Nothing wrong with it unless you have a softener which puts salt into it. In 1 gallon of water that is softened you get about 350-375mg of salt; about the amount in two pieces of bread. The average person should only have about 2,000mg a day. Also, when buying bottled water, the cheap kind might not be good since the pH is so low. In fact they won't even tell you what it is on the label unless it has good pH and they want you to know. I think it should be about 7pH. You can check that out, but I can tell with water like Pellegrino or Fiji that it makes my tummy feel better. BTW: My dogs prefer tap water to RO for some reason.

Im a bottled water guy myself. There is just something about the aftertaste that I do not like in out tap water unless its ICE COLD, even then not too much into it.

Buzz, this is interesting... so you're saying that R/O systems put more salt into the drinking water?? So unless I missed a chapter in biology class somewhere, wouldn't that make someone drink more water (as in the salt dehydrating you so that you drink more?) If that's the case, I might be better off going back to bottles/jugs.
I'm curious since it seems that every time I am out in Vegas, Im drinking tons and tons of water, at least the first few days.. I just figured it was the climate change, but this even happens in the winter..

I think the tap water comes down from the Colorado River.. not sure. All I do know is that it tastes AWFUL!
To the O/P - definitely put some sort of filtration system, even if it is just for drinking and cooking water. Bottled water is fine as well... if you're gonna drink a lot, just get the big 3 gallon jugs with the spigot on the end... they fit nicely on the fridge shelf.
