Young Canadian to work in Las Vegas
Hi, i am canadian and i want to be able to work in las vegas. I already have a place to stay there (my friend's). I am only 22 years old and i have a couple of questions.
1. What kind of visa do i need to work in Las Vegas?
2. Do i need to be employed by a company in Las Vegas to be able for me to work there?
3. What kind of documents do i need to work in Las Vegas and where do I submit this to?
4. How long does this process take?
Any more information that could help would be GREATLY appreciated. I am planning to work in Las Vegas by early next year.
THANKS A LOT I APPRECIATE IT.

Here in Las Vegas ,we are in a severe recession. It is harder to find work here than most USA cities in general. With the economy in peril, and the fact you are not a USA citizen, you will not any chance at finding work at this time. I would think twice until if/when the economy picks up. I wish I could answer this but I just do not know. I just did not want to see you come here and be severely disappointed. Hopefully, someone else knows how you can become a USA citizen or at least get some sort of work visa. Either way, I wish the best of luck. Vegas is a great place, but the city is being challenged at the current time.

the city is severely challenged, and i would imagine that it will be harder for you to get a job than a citizen...unless you are willing to work for minimum wage, i would stay put.

I don't think anyone here could possibly answer your questions. You need to ask Immigration. Here's the link: US Immigration Forms - Citizenship, Visas, Green cards, USCIS, INS

You didn't mention what kind of work you do or are trained for. Unskilled workers in particular are having a very bad time here, while skilled trades are getting a bit more work. The construction industry has slowed considerably due to the economy. I advise against hanging all your hopes on getting a casino job, as many casinos are not hiring and others are actively laying off. Even during good times getting a casino job is often a matter of having connections. I know several people who came here under the delusion that they would have a high-paying casino job within 24-48 hours of their arrival, and they wound up leaving broke and disappointed.
It isn't impossible to get a job here but it will be very tough if you are unskilled.

i am in I.T. graduate.
i will rethink wanting to work in las vegas as of the moment since most of the replies are discouraging when it comes to jobs now because of the recession.
thanks for the response!
