How is Indian Springs High School ?
How is Indian Springs High School ?... I am thinking of transferring my 15 year old teenage grandson to Indian Springs High and need input from the parents of students attending there.... I have been told that ISH has great athletic programs and that they keep tight reigns on the students... My teenager has been kicked-out of 5 schools. He is currently attending a behavioral school and will be re-released in mid January.... It would entail driving him about 10 miles 2 times daily but might be worth it. We are trying to raise a good citizen. We cannot afford private school..

I used to serve Indian Springs as their special education coordinator. I love Indian Springs! I think because they are "out of town," they work harder to problem solve. If a kid needs behavioral intervention, they won't just kick him or her out because there isn't a place then for the student to go.
The principal, Katy Christiansen, knows the staff and students like a principal in a larger school can't. She cares about those kids and goes the extra mile to help them and their families. She also knows curriculum.
The staff is great, too. They have to work harder and smarter than the schools in Vegas. The student body is close knit. The campus has more of a family aura about it. The do have good athletic programs and work hard on their academics, too. The kids make progress every year.
It certainly would be worth a call to Katy to discuss the situation. If not Indian Springs, she may have some other guidance for you. (702) 799-0932

I know Indian Springs a bit and consider it an exceptional family style operation. Ain't filled with the children of the well off so a more diverse enrollment...and Indian Springs ain't Palm Springs.
But in general they will do better by a kid there than most schools in LV.
And I believe that Principal actually knows every kid in the school - elementary, middle and high by name and background. Can't go wrong with that lady.

20 miles from the NW. But only a 20 minute or less drive. Pretty pleasant actually. Cup of coffee, brain on neutral, soft music and you are there.

For mamapoe, my family and I moved to IS when my son was 15 from Cali. he was a d-f student, I blame the 35-40 kids per class! IS high school turned him around and he graduated with honors. Also, I helped move a relative and her family out to IS from Vegas. The eldest son was 14,mixed up in drugs, gangs, etc. Now, he has lettered in football, baseball, wrestling and has the grades to keep him in the sports. I am sooo proud of him!!! Move your kid out here. I am confident this school will turn him around also.
