Well, we did a lot of research and looked at over 30 houses, all of them in SW and NW. The reason we liked Mountains Edge, was it's convenient location and newer houses. We did see lots of areas in SW where every third house was on sale, too. But on our street there was only one more house for sale, exactly like the one we bought, but for $189K. Basically we fell for the price, this house was absolutely the most for the buck. It also has a nicest curb appeal and was inside just like new. But lot of the bank owned houses were in terrible shape - that was just something we didn't quite understand, because we only looked at newer houses. It made us wonder what kind of people lived in these houses... some houses we didn't even dare to walk in, they were trashed and dirty... even though some just 1-2 years old!

The only thing we had to compromise - small backyard only 3900sq ft lot.

Stick to your guns kid. You got a good deal. You will look extremely bright in 2012. You just have to let the phillistines get in a few wise remarks until then.

Was working the other end of the market today. We were looking at houses with swimming pools of 3900 SF. Same thing. 50 to 60% of the price paid a couple of years ago. 1.1 million for 600K.

Fascinating market.

I have a customer in Toscana (89131) and he paid less than half for the house he bought in that neighborhood. All those homes are huge!
