Apparently Restaurant Reviews are chat thread stuff...so you may find this one there.

As projected we hit Six Tables on Saturday Evening.

Place is dark...painted like a drawing room in an older English place. Dark purple walls. Heavy laminated drapes over the windows that kill both the exteriour lighting and any noise. Music was instrumental romantic of the easy listening sort.

A nice champagne as soon as seated. Soon followed by a piece of poached salmon in a sauce. Both liked it...olecapt is not always a salmon fan...but this was good.

Selected a moderately priced bordeaux for our wine as we were red meat eating.

Soup is a spiced up white clam chowder. The first of many regular things done just perfect. I have never tasted a similar one...and I like clam chowder...

The salad is a variant on a caesar...Very cheese rich with a light dressing...and the lettuce quite cold and crisp.

A sorbet...just to get in the mood for the main course.

The entree was one of four. Rack of Lamb...Chateaubriand...Sea Bass...or duck. I think the Lamb and Steak are fixed. the seafood and the fowl varies with what the chef finds. The duck was from a trip by the chef and wife to China Town the day before. I suspect the fish is whatever he finds that fits the formula.

It was surronded by a superb potato and young veggies that were better than the potato. Even had a young purple potato of some sort that was most tasty. The amazing thing was that everything on the plate was perfectly cooked...neither over or under...al dente and hot.

The Steak was perfect. Clearly he does a moderate sized tenderloin and cuts it to spec. He politely declined my rare and determined that I would have it medium rare. The Admiral's medium were the end pieces. She loved it.

All the guest seemed most satisfied. The next table was three regular attendees who had the duck and thought it wonderful.

The main course was followed by a poached pear with Stilson cheese. I thougth it wonderful...the Admiral passed on both the poached pear and the Stilson. I thought the combination perfect. She thought it ungodly to cook a pear and the Stilson cheese should be used to poinson vermin.

The final course was a Crepe Suzette. Down very well cold and hot at the same time with a fine sauce.

Damage is $90 a head. Wine adds another $25 to $40...water and coffee can run another $20 a head. Then the tip.

The place is manned by three people. Roland...the Chef. Gayle the wife of Chef. And Greg...assitant to. It is an exercise in logistics. And they have it down cold. Or rather hot.

They also feature a magician with an additional $10 on the tab some nights. I would think a good sleight of hand guy would be great in the enviorment. Very much like the comedy club in Los Angeles.

Anyway we shall go back. Probably more than once. Food that good is just so rare. I have to find out if they can really do it every time.

Total bill was $330 for two of us. And we tipped well

If you said where it is I missed it, and do they call it Six Tables because they only have six tables?

Lake Mead and Ramparts...behind the Starbucks.

And yes they have six tables. I would think max head count would be about 20 or 22.

Then again 6 nights a week times 18 people times $130...hey maybe a workable model.

Worthless...

Bob Taylor's will make the top level of local restaurants in Las Vegas just after the hold the winter olympics in hell. Fun place to go during the rodeo and drink and play video poler and bet whether one of the cowboys will actually us F*** more than all other words in a sentence longer than ten words.

Nobody but Oscar would put bagel cafe in the top ten of anything.

Bradley Odgens? I spend $500 on a meal every two or three years. But that does not make where I go a local place. I think that makes Wynn a local Casino.

You cut it with the poached pear. I not only ate mine I ate the Admiral's

We are going to go back a good bit. Every time we can stick a foodie friend with the bill in fact.

We have a half dozen foodie friends so we may do well.

We have actually offered to take Chef and wife to the Lutefisk affair by the Sons of Norway. Early February in the Boulder City Elks Lodge.

You ain't into cuisine until you have eaten Lutefisk in the Boulder City Elks Lodge.

Lots of cheap aquavi so the Lutefisk actually tastes pretty good. Or at least you think that.

The Admiral by the way is a purebred Norsk.

IMHO, that's way to much money for a single meal. Maybe for a week's worth, and that's stretching it as well. For that kind of money, I'd expect them to rebuild my car's engine, and give it a new paint job.

i'm not too fond of pears either, though i've never had one poached. but your review has me intrigued enough. now i just need to find the company that would appreciate that type of meal.

one day, just decide that you're going to splurge and go to a place that you never would try to go to. it can be completely different than your normal dining experience, and hopefully you'd find it well worth the money. there are places with great food that aren't as expensive as six tables- though for a 7 course meal, the price sounds rather reasonable.

again, just think about it for a birthday, an anniversary, a big life change, or just because.
