My husband may be transfered to Las Vegas to work for MGM and they would like us to live close by. We have 2 small children and not sure where we should look to live-we will need to rent for a few years.

Thank you for any advice.

89052, 89074, 89123, 89139, and 89148 are pretty close to the strip, nice and safe neighborhood.

89123 would be the most convenient out of all those zip codes, 89052 and 89074 stretch out the commute a little and its difficult when there's an accident on Eastern or 215...

Check out the Manhattan and Park Avenue condo complexes; safe, luxurious, beautiful, and 10 minutes down the strip from MGM; close enough to be convenient, yet far away enough to be away from the hustle and bustle...

Nah They got kidlets. With kidlets you don't do those places.

89123 however does work. Just need to get the schools straight.

You can be in a good elementary and 12 minutes to the strip. The joy of 89123

Well, thats the dilemma. How close is close? For instance, I would consider Green Valley or parts of Henderson the best place to raise kids here, but is that close enough? As far as being within 10-15 minutes of MGM, options are limited. I agree that Manhattan and Park Avenue do have a sizeable young professional crowd, as you can see from the numerous BMWs, Acuras, and Range Rovers in the parking stalls, but the amount of young families there has also increased, due in large part to the security and luxury of the complexes.

The OP needs to let us know exactly how far they are allowed to stray from MGM's leash

There are a number of moderately priced sfr neighborhoods in Silverado that will work just fine. And mostly they are closer than the condos.

Just work the schools at...

Schools of Las Vegas Rankings

for the good ones in 89123 and then find a house in that district. Piece of cake.

just what olecapt said, 89123 isn't just condos, i live in an attached home, but there's also many and plenty of detached housing developments like Silverado Ranch, which is a big part of 89123 and Wigwam Ranch and Rancho Las Palmas, which is another large part of 89123...
