Default Jobs for felons in Las Vegas

I was reading some previous messages regarding folks who have hired construction workers in the past; they mentioned some of the folks had tattoos they specified were from prison. Be careful steriotyping people with tattoos. I know plenty of people with tattoos that you may think are from prison and these people have never been to prison. The art work is just that, art work. Also, many mentioned they were hispanic in heritage. It sounds like this is an issue with the people who put posts. Racism? I think so. I was looking for work for some felons due to the type of work I do; the ones I know are legitimately looking for work and not looking to commit crimes. They have families and broke the law due to substance abuse issues or fell upon hard times and were desperate for the easy way out, and got caught. I don't condone those behaviors, especially for the older ones, but they still need to work. Are there any companies in the Las Vegas area that hire those on parole or probation? I know in another state where I lived there were companies that had warehouses that did shipping and receiving for leather goods, etc., that had contracts with parole and probation? Please advise. Thanks.

Default Tattoos

Tattoos?

Depending on the tattoos that are being displayed, they should be scrutinized...regardless of what race they are. If they happen to be hispanic with Latin King, Northern, Southern, or MS13 tattoos...then why hire any of them? Ask them to modify them or cover them up.These individuals made a choice to display a message through their tattoos (A.K.A. artwork), and businesses don't have to agree with their message.

I'm black, but I would never hire any black guy with any gang or race promoting tats. Any gang oriented tats should be scrutinized. While on the subject of tats, how many gangbangers "don't" have tattoos? Answer --none! Let's not get too politically correct.PC kills people too.

There are consequences to everything, such as... felonies and stupid tattoos. Personally, I wouldn't hire anyone with a visible tat or a lip/nose/tongue piecrcing. Many other employers feel that way, and it's their right. Even Obama agreed with me on this issue.

Default Ex-felon NO TATTOOS! looking for work

* I am about a couple of months from homeless. I served time for a serious felony (the charges were laid on my by internal affairs at the law enforcement agency I worked for). Besides being a peace office for 5 years, i was a registered nurse (ER, rescue) for 12 years. Lost the right to do either.

* I was also a bodyguard for awhile (excellent shot, great defense skills, but can't [legally] own a gun now.)

* I have been out since 2000. I was doing website work but that has dried up. I am 56 years old, male, white, no threat to anyone. I live with my fiancee' who is also my age, she can't find a job either (she has no record).

* I am computer literate, look ok, no missing teeth, and I have an excellent command of the English language. I get along real well with everyone. When I tell my story to people, they can't believe it. (I was really honestly not guilty!)

* If someone wants to talk to me in the hopes of maybe giving me a chance, respond to this. I will be honest. I could sure use some help. Thanks.

PS I have references and can show my current web design and photography expertise.

...I yearn for both my jobs back; I so enjoyed them both, and was real good at the work. Life is funny...

Im really having trouble with this subject of tattoos saying in your mind that someone should not be employed because of that... I think you need to get in with the times ...society has changed ...that is a form of discrimination whether you want to admit it or not

Discrimination in general is legal. It's only illegal if someone is discriminated against for one of the proscribed reasons. Being inked up isn't one of those.

The difference is placement and thinking ahead. I personally like tattoos and have many of them. My arms, chest, legs, all with many tattoos. However, I spent 16 years wearing a suit to work every day and you'd never know I had any. I enjoy the art of it, but also realize that many people don't. Which is why I didn't run out and tattoo my head, neck, or hands. There's a social stigma to it, plus many companies want their employees to project a certain image. And, sorry, a giant skull tattood on the side of your head or letters written across your knuckles is going to project a definite image that many employers do not want projected. And that is their right. So use your body as a blank canvas if you'd like, but do it with the knowledge that you may limit your employment if you're not able to cover.

I have a Felony on my record that's just shy of 14 years. I've been working in the Industry of Home-health maybe a year out on my felony charge.. Since working in the Industry, I've learned just about everything under the sun when it comes to Nursing. I'm labeled a PCA but my title should be CNA or RN cause I know the job and the entirety of the qualifications. In Feb of this year I lost my job of 8 months working in a Alzheimer's Facility. A drastic change of events trickled down (I lost my mom to Lung Cancer in Dec of 2012) which was 2 months later prior to me losing my job. I've been seeking work since and the doors are being shut before I can step in due to my Felony conviction from 1998! I've applied and continue to apply for jobs like Dish-washing @ 9 bucks an hour... Laundry worker, Kitchen Runner and PCA which is where my Last 10+ years of experience is directed on my resume.. I've sat down in interviews and watched the frown turn upside down literally when they see the answer to that one question: Have you ever been convicted of a Felony, Misdemeanor etc within the last 10 years followed by the BULL CRAP (a conviction does not automatic disqualify you for employment) lol.. YES it does.. How can a person with 13 years of PCA experience, completely up to date with the credentials of CPR, TB etc not get a job that pays $9.00 and hour.... You tell me the TRUTH.. I'm not upset at the employer who keeps turning me away cause you reserve the right and I'm not looking for a hand out cause my choices and my decisions were my own and I stand and own up to what I did with wearing the FELONY stamp on my for-head.. What upsets me is the System.. Yes I and so many other's messed up. Yes we made poor choices and Yes I/We are wearing the Life Long Stamp to let all know what we did BUT if we, in-which some of US have (CHANGED)... WHY DOES SOCIETY AND THE SYSTEM REFUSE TO ALLOW US TO BE CHANGED INDIVIDUALS? Some if not most of us just want a chance not so much as to show you but to show ourselves that we are not washed up individuals.. We do wanna work and will WORK! The system doesn't want to give us work cards, we have to petition for Non-Gaming cards to simply work in a Casino cleaning toilets... I mean really.. Some of US do have families, children, take care of Parents etc. We're people just as the Judge who sentenced us to some 12 years probation or 5 years Prison etc. Something has to be done. We've done the crime.. why must the System and Society keep making us do the time? Some of us didn't finish school but went back to obtain our GED or High-school Diploma.. Some of us have went on to go to school in hopes to obtain a Career yet we're still being pushed back... Something has to happen for US!!! I'm all for a petition... who's with me?!!!

If the question is "in the last ten years", isn't your answer "no", since the conviction was in 1998 (or is that when the crime was committed?
