Nope, it is not near the base, but a nice community in the Northwest end of town.

The NLV high school was Cheyenne. The area of NLV they live in is a planned community well north of Craig Rd, not too far from Aliante, but a little east of that. It is a nice neighborhood, too nice to be stuck going to a school like Cheyenne. My point was, NLV has some growing up too do to lose its bad image from others, AND you still have to be sure what else is nearby. Several others pointed out how nice the million dollar homes on Sunrise Mtn are, but you have to travel through the trash along Nellis to get to/from there.

The same is true for some of the nice new parts of the new NLV areas. There is still trash very close by.

This person from out of town definitely needs to come and look around in person. Nothing beats eyeballing the area in person. Hopefully they will find a nice, safe part of town that is convenient to their needs.

[quote=olecapt;596566]Who told you it is not called Hooterville? On the west side that is the standard name. Everybody kids about when your friendly industry is going to blow up removing Hooterville from the map.

That is why they changed the name of the annual celebration in Henderson to "Heritage Days", after Pepcon we had all renamed "Industrial Days" to the more appropriate "Industrial DISASTER Days".

I think Boulder City has the best idea, annex as much land as far out as you can so you can control the zoning. Too bad they can be even bigger snobs than people from Summerlin.

Cheyenne is still pretty much innercity. it is mildly better than Mojave and close to Basic. It centers on Alexander ane draws heavily from areas south of there. There are a few areas above Craig invovled but they should either get permission to go elsewhere or move.

And much of Henderson has to go through the old town...and Basic is not much of a school. Does that say we should encourage people not to move to Henderson?

If you want to stay out of all that you move to the far west. But I would think that overkill. For folk on a budget the north side of NLV is probably the best overall deal in town...in terms of cost, housing value and schools. If you are well off you can go a number of other places. But if you are trying to stretch a book...north NLV is a very good bet.

There is also still trash close by to Green Valley, such as ****ney Ranch and the area around Paradise and Warm Springs...Basically, there is trash near everywhere, it just depends how much you want to live near...

Cheyenne High School is horrible!!! And that's one of the downfalls of so many areas around there. Mojave is bad as well. There are some nice communities in areas around these schools, but I wouldn't even consider sending my kids to those schools.

Read the thread. That was the point. People in North NLV do not send their children to Cheyenne or Mojave. And people who care about schools in Henderson would not send their kids to Basic or Foothill. But Shadow Hills and Arbor View are quite acceptable schools like GV and Coronado.

I did. That's why threw in my two cents to agree that Cheyenne is a bad school. Sometimes people post agreements, disagreements, or just throw in their thoughts on the subject matter. You'll get the hang of this soon. You don't always have to agree, disagree or even read them.
