Do NOT move to North Las vegas if you value your life. I would look in the northwest part of town if he needs to be close to the base.

Nonsense. Utter nonsense. The current crime rate in NLV is less than that of metro...which is the City of Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County. That is not because the bad part of NLV has turned good...it is because the huge expansion of NLV is as safe as anywhere in town.

Ya know.......I have nothing good to say about this lousy city. But I wonder why every one always says North LV is so bad. I work up there sometimes and get to see some of the older areas as well as the new.
What is so bad about North LV? Where is the bad spots everyone complains about? I never seen it nor do I hear of it on the local news.
The crime statists say Las Vegas is the 8th most crime infested city in America. Violent crime is up 32% this year alone as reported by the FBI while the country as a whole has gone down. No where on the list is North Las Vegas.

Sucks that people bad mouth North las Vegas and don't live here. I have lived in North Las Vegas for about 7 years and love it. I am from a small town in Pa, and grew up very different then it is around here, and I have no problem in North Las Vegas. There is just sections of North Las Vegas that are bad, but you have that all over Las Vegas and Henderson. Each part of the valley has a bad area. Don't go bad mouthing North Las Vegas if you don't know what you are talking about!!!!

You tell them Bugbully.
I also live in North Las Vegas and it's a great place to live, just avoid the older crappy area of "northtown." And some parts near it.
Too many people that don't live here bad mouth it, and they have no idea what they are talking about. I know of a better place for them: Detroit. lol

I think some people in this thread are being a bit misleading to potential new residents who are sounding out locations in Vegas that are nice to live. Parts of NLV may be ok for you personally, but who could recommend the place as a whole to someone looking for a nice, safe environment? Talk about Henderson or the Southwest or even Northwest, but NLV and anything due east of the strip are (with a few exceptions) rather nasty.
Sure, there are some great parts of NLV, but the majority of the place? I don't even like driving through it in broad daylight - The only reason I can see someone wanting to go there is if they want to score some crack or donate plasma.
There's a reason they pay substitute teachers more to teach in the East and Northeast zones too. - It isn't worth it either.

I'm Sorry but there are bad neighborhoods in all of Las Vegas AND Henderson. You are telling me nothing bad happens in Henderson, yeah right. Just because North Las Vegas gets a bad rap because of a small portion of it, it is just stupid. It is very upsetting to the people that call North Las Vegas Home and Love it, and it is a good neighborhood!!!! I have lived in North Las Vegas for over 7 years, and have never even seen or heard gun shots, or drug dealing!!! Just saying that there are bad people, and bad parts of every town, but to generalize one whole town is just stupid, and makes me think that thats all you have been to, is the bad part of North Las Vegas. Wonder what you have been up to???
