Thanks for the quick replies! Basically, last year we stayed for 2 days at the Stratosphere, not bad, but the Strip is "old news" to us and we want to stay off it, rent a car, and experience more of Vegas (and use more coupons from our casino guide!). I am a grad student and my wife works part time, so we are by no means rich. We are hoping to stay 3 or 4 nights and Arizona Charlie's is less than $30 a night for the week we are looking at, well below any other reasonable location to stay. But it sounds like we would survive there.

:/
People are quite concerned with racism on these posts......i wish when i lived in miami, being a white male, people were concerned about me....instead i was constantly discriminated against by cubans and noone even cared :/ Seems like being concerned with racism is a one way road.....if you're white and are discriminated against, people don't care. Now if thats not discrimination i dont know what is. :/

great idea airics. I don't recall when the OP said he/she was staying, but you may very well be able to find last minute deals for a downtown casino (i.e. Binions, Fitzgerald's Frontier, etc.) Check the online sites, such as priceline and expedia.
even if you've been to Vegas a few times, Freemont is always cool, and (at least to me) reminiscient of old school Vegas

I'm really not sure where this came from either. I don't recall the OP or any other poster on this thread having tinges of racism. Further, while unfortunate, I've never experienced this discrimination that you speak of in Miami, and believe me I've been there more times than you can count (hi, white Jewish guy from NY, Florida is a 6th borough to us!) I've never had that problem down there, or anywhere for that matter.

Yeah, we both liked downtown last year. We are staying sometime around the 23rd to the 28th of March. Vegas club looks to be 32 a night. We have a bit to decide I guess.

The person making the post about discrimination, probably thought he was replying to another post about it, but it ended up here. At least I think that is why it's here.
