Default Filipino neighborhoods?

hi all, first post here! i just landed a job in Las Vegas paying around 70k/yr. I will be house hunting when i get there, and renting on a month to month basis till i close a deal. As another point of my situation , I have a wife and 1yr old son. My wife is Filipino, and would really like to find a neighborhood that is safe for our family foremost, but also having a heavier density of Filipinos (if such an enclave exists). I will be working from my home, so locale is not an issue, in that regard. Appreciate anyone's input on this particular point.

Red face Northwest Las Vegas 89131

Anyone have any thoughts/opinions on Northwest Las Vegas? Looking at moving to that area (89131). Is it safe? My daughters are 15 & 16. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

There are many Filipino groceries/restaurants near the Sahara/Maryland Parkway area of Downtown, but I don't know if there is a residential area with a higher concentration of Filipinos. Perhaps near a Catholic church that does service in Tegalo? If I remember correctly, there is something like that in the NE part of Las Vegas, near Sunrise Mtn and the Air Force Base.

lasfa - Lock up your daughters! Just Kidding! I think you'll be fine in NW Las Vegas. The only thing that will suck is the commute.

Having dealt with four daughters over their transition for kid to lady you will have all of the normal problems in 89131. However you will not have anything more than the normal problems.

Have fun. If you survive you may like them again in a few years.

I live here in Henderson, and I've driven all over the valley and this is what I've found.... There is a difference between North Las Vegas, and North NORTH Las Vegas. North NORTH Las Vegas has nice areas but it's in the middle of bum ****ing nowhere. North Las Vegas (which is below North NORTH Las Vegas) is ghetto in every sense of the term. Druggies, high crime, hobos, etc. Draw a diagonal line from the NORTH WEST area all the way down to the very SOUTH EAST part of the valley. Everything on top of that line should be avoided. And, don't be fooled by living close to the strip, either. Equally as ghetto.

Hey they will let you drive on the Alta corridor. You think that ghetto?

McNeil Estates? The Scotch 80s? Spanish Oaks?

You really ought to tell Steve Wynn. He is building his residence in there.

North of Craig is fine and has better access to Nellis than anywhere else in town. And there are some very nice places south of Craig. You just need to know your way around.

We are in the far North NORTH section and we used to be on the edge of the valley, which was quite nice, but they built past us quite aways. Now we aren't in the middle of nowhere, there is too much around us. Lots of shopping, almost everything we could want within a 5-10 minute drive. And our local casino, Aliante station. Plus we have the beltway which takes us all around the valley. Still love it out here.

Interesting depiction.

Where does Henderson fall on that list?
