Default Desert Shores and The Lakes access question...

I was looking at some condos/apartments around the Desert Shores and The Lakes areas. It would be great to be able to use the lake for fishing or swimming or whatever. Do I need to actually live in the part that allows access or can I rent a apt/condo around the area and have access to the lakes? Are they open to the public? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know how Desert Shores works. To use their facilities you must live in Desert Shores...not in South Shores or North Shores. Renting is fine. Thus the condos and apartments at the south end are NOT in Desert Shores. The only practical condo in Desert Shores with all privileges is Mar-a-Lago. There is also Desert Shores Villas but you don't want to go there. To put a boat on the water it must be insured. This can be tricky for small boats and renters. You should check with an insurance company and Desert Shores before you rent if that is your plan.

I have not dealt with this issue in the Lakes but I suspect it to be the same.

Get confirmation from the rental agent and talk to the Association. Agents are not trustworthy on these issues.
