Default Cool Share?

Does anyone here participate in the NV Energy Cool Share program? Just wondering what your experiences with it are like. It seems cool being able to remotely control your thermostat over the internet.

Cool Share

I was wondering the same thing. And I see the response is under whelming.. The literature mentioned 30,000 participants. I felt that was a very low number when I read it. That would be out of how many accounts?

I also wondered how many businesses are signed up for the program. Do ya think many of the casinos are at the top of that list? LOL

It struck me odd that your home would be about 4 degrees lower during times they felt you should be using less energy. Does that mean you just go over and lower the thermostat? Or does that mean they control your temp at all times? It wasn't very clear to me. Cause if they want to keep my temp at 78 degrees in the Summer and bump it to 82 degrees when they need to conserve power, well, that just doesn't work for me. I know they want to do most of the conservation during the day while everyone is suppose to be at work, but I don't work.

Any way ... its not gonna work for me. After reading this, I hope you are as confused as I am, LOL. Great topic though. Ashamed there were no responses.

As I read it you are always in control. On the highest days at peak usage they might override your setting and raise it 4 degrees. You can always override their override. In that case you don't get the billing credit.

I'm most interested in the internet controls that you would have. Imagine being able to lower your thermostat from the web if you forgot to turn it up while you are on vacation. You could save some serious dough just fixing that semi mistake.

You are absolutly correct. Free internet control for certain circumstances is a great deal. I vote you go for it.

I am going to take advantage of this. With us having a vacation condo it only makes sense. I love the idea of logging on at OAK or SFO before my flight and turning down the air. Ahhhh, comfort.
