Goin on budget vacation, what do you reccomend?
My boyfriend and I will be headed out to Vegas in February since I got a great deal at Binions ($8 for 4days) and I would like to know about some fun (inexpensive) things to do.

Drive thru Red Rock, Calico Basin, up to Mt. Charleston, Valley of Fire. Take a bus to the Strip and walk around to see all the big resorts, some have free attractions like the fountains etc. I always liked the Mall at Alladin but they remodeled it. Caesar's Palace Forum Shops is a must see. I still laugh at myself when I remember my reaction the first time I walked in there!
Obviously if you want to gamble you have to spend some money!

Walking through all the Casinos and seeing most of their stuff is free! I lived in Las Vegas during graduate school, and would always enjoy going down to the strip to see what each hotel had. Some of my favorites:
*At MGM Grand, there used to be a place in there where you could go and watch a TV pilot and give your feedback, or try different foods and give your feedback, although the name of the place escapes me now. It is back by the monorail station entrance. It was always fun to catch a TV pilot and be a part of the review process.
*Just walk up one side of the strip, and enter hotels as you get to them, go through them, and then leave and move on to the next one. That can be pretty fun, and is a good way to work off what you just devoured at the buffet's.
*Get off the strip and check out some places around it. You can probably rent a car for 20/day or so. Check out Crown & Anchor which is a nice authentic Irish style pub on Maryland & Trop, if you're from the East or have never been to an In N Out, you gotta check that out. Some people say its overrated, but it was my favorite burger spot. Also a pretty cool restaurant near the strip is Bahama Breeze which is about a mile off strip, near Flamingo & Harmon. Nice atmosphere there.
*Since you're staying downtown, everything is cheaper down there. Margaritas are generally $1 at a lot of places, but you'll get more for your buck downtown. Same with shrimp cocktails. The light show is big, cool and free. Also, Main Street station has a brewery called Triple 7 Brewery, and they used to offer 20oz. $1 draws of their microbrews after midnight, till 7am, which is a ridiculous price and an easy way to get hammered. Not sure if they still do that, or if you are even a drinker.

That really is an excellent list. I'll have to check out some of those when (cheap, ha ha) friends come to town!

We weren't planning on renting a car since we are on a tight budget, but we have a week so I figure we can just use the bus

Check into a car anyway. Think about having to get from the airport, to and from, back and forth from the strip, getting to all these attractions. Cars can go for as little at $10 a day in Vegas. You'll spend more than that in bus fare for 2.
I must admit...an $8 hotel room and still a tight budget? Are you sure you want to come to Vegas?
