I suspect that some bright people in various casino marketing depts. have given some thought to semi-clad hunky cocktail waiters. They crunched some numbers and determined the idea might increase traffic of straight female and gay male customers by 15%. It sounded like a good idea until they gave it some additional thought and concluded that straight male traffic would also likely decline by 30%. Not a winning formula.

I totally agree with you here, even though some may not deem it "fair". Women put up with their men oogling much more than the opposite. So, women will tag along into those places with the "sexy barmaids, dancers..." because they don't have much of a choice and it is where their men want to go.
I hardly doubt most men would deal with the opposite. So, like you said, the number crunchers are not willing to take that chance.
Here in Detroit there are many topless joints. I don't know if they pack them everynight, but the only place that I can think of where women can go enjoy men dancing is in Windsor, Canada. Back in the day I went a couple times and let me tell you--they bussed the women in from all over!!! It was always packed!! Women are crazy!!! I really would have hated to be a male dancer!! Then again, I don't think they liked women. Just the money!
Seriously, how many burlesque-type shows are all male there? I know there are a few.

But why aren't the straight female tourists DEMANDING it, complaining to the casino's, raising the topic in travel foums?

While most men tend to look at the semi-clad women as sex objects...I think that most straight women have an appreciation of the attractive female body in an almost artistic way...a thing of beauty. So, no, my guess would be that most straight women don't object to seeing beautiful women serving in the casino. It's the sometimes offensive male reaction to them as sex objects that they disdain.
You just can't apply male logic to females...and vice versa.

American people and politicians would never go for it right now. This country is way too conservative still. In mainstream American culture, prostitution is seen as evil and criminal. And ironically enough, the same people who call it evil and criminal, and fight against it often partake in it themselves.
While in many other parts of the world, it is much more accepted and even seen as a normal job or career in some places.
It makes sense to legalize it. And countries where it is legal have a lot less problems associated with it. If America really were "the land of the free" then we would have it along with many other things.

Totally on the fence about this subject. Interesting discussion though.

I say go for it. We all know its already going on, might as well have the state get a cut of the "action"
I for one, would never go to a hooker.. lol as I find it kind of gross.. but some might not.. so why not get taxes off it.

ANY JOB involves some form of prostitution and I'm not going to go into using symbols or metaphors to get my point across. When your Boss says, directly or indirectly: DO THIS, or DO THAT! Well.......Any number of prostitutes would feel sorry for you and would prefer other options which take a lot less time to please their "Bosses" and far more lucrative. For your measly pay for 8 hours of "prostituting yourself", they can enjoy watching TV for the other 7 hours or more while giggling at the idiots in the standard workplace setting.
Kimba01: Your report on the Windsor Ontario establishment frequented by women should be forwarded to the Casino bosses. If the Men's Liberation Group of the 70's hadn't petered out, and had gained momentum over the years to rival Women's Rights organizations, they'd be right there to say: this is exploitation of men.
JFKIII: I was GOING to add a much more expansive list of options, BUT.....
But, to reiterate, if we're going to give Bangkok a run for its money, we've got work to do. Honey Rooms. We'll need those. Over there, that's where you rendezvous with your catch of the day or the hour. Even the major American chain hotels provide them there. Rent a room for 1-6 hours for $10 dollars. The last room I rented there came equipped with wall-to-wall mirrors and a great choice of porno movies. Bangkok has well-earned their position as sex capital of the world, it reeks of professionalism. Is Las Vegas up to that task?

And it was too. But, it was also that women had been feeling a little left out of the "game", so they went over the top when they went there. Plus, there wasn't one on every corner, either.
Oh, I don't know if I mentioned that it was total nudity!!!
