Hello,
we are possibly relocating to Henderson and we have a young family. We would like somewhere safe, with other families around, and where we could get a decent size backyard. I am not looking for a pool unless it is fenced off separate. Which areas should we avoid, if any? I would like my boys to be able to help with yard work and have a garden in the back, so HOA or CCand Rs that would make that difficult would be a detractor. A nice view would be very appreciated too. Any suggestions? We are going out there in a week to take a look at the area and see where we might want to look for a home.
Thanks in advance!

It is all relevant to your price range, but generally green valley and seven hills are considered desireable areas. In Las Vegas, you will want a pool and most homes will come with a pool, you may want to change your selections to pools with privacy fences to protect your children. North Las Vegas is a rougher area. You should also consider Rhodes Ranch and Summerlin, which are also master planned communities.

We live in Seven Hills and love it. Most of the homes don't have any kind of a back yard so I think the garden may be out for you...lol. Check Craigs List for rental properties - there are lots of houses for rent there.

You may want to look at the area of Henderson that is East of Boulder highway, North of Lake Mead Dr. and South of Wagonwheel. Older established neighborhoods, safe, and larger lots because of the age of the properties. No HOAs just city codes to be followed. We have an elevation/view in this area that just makes me feel a little more free/less closed iin. The view of the valley over to Mt. Charleston is what I check on every morning.

I have a friend that lives off of Wagonwheel. It is an older neighborhood, so the lots are larger and no associations. Green Valley is nice but will be a little higher cost wise. Summerlin is out. Associations and smaller lots, unless you are prepared to spend some serious money.

The difference between GV/Seven Hills/etc and Summerlin is zilch. Same homes, lots and Associations. If you get back into the low rent district like many of wagonwheel or to the east you may find cheaper than Summerlin. Than again go a little east of Summerlin and you can find comparables.

In general the outer ring is quite consistent from Henderson to the SW to Summerlin to the NW to Aliante and NLV.

The best buys will be in the areas with the big foreclosure impact...Anthem and west Summerlin and Centennial and Aliante.

Quality of life is remarkable similar around the whole outer zone.
