Would that be like the Brooke Shields unibrow? Tee-hee!

I also detest auto issues and the mechanics who make them worse.

Amen to that. It would be nice if one of the smart people who make laws in this country would come up with some laws that would really be enforced to try to fix the problem of mechanics taking advantage of people so much. Sick some Erin Brockovich types on the problem. Talk about out-of-control...automotive costs are too much anyway, then to have dishonesty and stealing rear its ugly head so often is inexcusable. We can bail out the domestic Big 3 but we let dishonest mechanics go out on their own and prey on people.

Mechanics have deluded themselves into thinking we can't survive without a car, and take advantage of the panic you experience at the time, especially in cities without a good mass transit system. They might not be so arrogant in the NYC area, where I've talked to subway riders there who have never owned a car!

As I was waiting for my car last week on Boulder Highway, my eyes were focused down the street 5 blocks away, to that Scooter store I'm dying to visit, but being a nightshift worker, it's difficult for me to get there during the daytime. But I have been researching Scooters/Mopeds on the Internet, prices ranging from about $1400 on up, and there lies my future, supplemented with a bus pass in my retirment years.

Those scooters with that big basket at the end, you could put a lot of groceries in there, and I could also put my ferret in there to whizz down to the Strip at night. An electric bike, another option.

I know someone who has a moped, lives near Boulder Hwy/Sunset, who drives it 25 miles to Silverton casino every night. But he still needs his car for those extremely windy days and our rare rainy days.

But, once retired, I can work around that!

+1.

I can't imagine Carl doing 'teaser rates'. He's a straight shooter & will tell you (as best he can) what it's gonna cost. There would likely have to be a LOT of surprises before the bill crept up several hundred bucks.

We don't have a lot of need for Carl, but he's one of the few people in my world that are an automatic call when I need something. There's a variety of options for financial/insurance/contractor/other needs, but when it comes to cars? Carl. That's a pretty strong endorsement, he's a brand of his own.
Next time we will call Carl. I did hear from someone on here that they took their car there and Carl did not work on it, another mechanic at his shop did and they did not do a great job. So I was a little worried about that.
We have now signed up with a service through our auto insurance that if something happens, they will come out and tow us for no cost, jump the battery for no cost. And it costs less than $10 a year. It would have been nice to have it before all this happened.

If the transmission goes again, I would not personally go through Doctor Auto, because the place that does the transmissions, I was not totally happy with. The car still doesn't feel right to me, but my husband said it's fine. Although we can now go fast again, before we just chugged along like a toy choo choo train. The thing that bugged me the most about them having possession of the car for 5 days, there are a bunch of small nicks in the paint, really small, but noticeable to me, like car doors bumping our car or tools bumping it or something! My husband is not concerned, but it irks me. I am going to do a review on them at Yelp.

Im getting evicted from my apartment in Centennial Hills, my UE was nowhere NEAR enough to cover my 1/2 of the rent, and when I found out my ex gf didnt have her half, she immediately moved in with her new boyfriend, who just proposed, she is moving to reno and getting married in a few months (been with him 3 months )

So after Sunday, I dont know where I am going to go. But once I get my income tax return, I am planning to move back to Florida. My grandmother owns a house that is she willing to let me live in rent free (still have to pay utilities) until I can get my own apartment. In the mean time I am saving as much money as I can before I leave. Also spoke to my old boss at Publix and he told me to give him a call as soon as I get back

My ex gf wanted to hang out with me tonight because "it might be the last time I ever see you, and I want to end on good terms" I told her no, Im sorry but rather than helping me with the rent the way she chose to just ditch me, I cannot forgive that. And she has a fiance now, her hanging out with me is basically cheating on him.

For the record I DO NOT hate Las Vegas, but considering everything that has happened in the past few months I have no choice but to return home. I gave it my best shot and I still failed. But the point is I gave it my best. All my family is back in Florida (with a few in Connecticut) so now with no family or real close friends, there's nothing left for me here

As for the "I told you so's" Im going to receive when I go back to my old job, Im ready for it, knowing I gave 100%

I hope that after I leave Las Vegas you guys will still welcome my posts here on this forum
Davie...you're a young kid who moved across the country by yourself and gave it a shot. You got jobs when others couldnt, hooked up with a couple girls, and had an experience most people your age havent. Thats not failure.

Any of your old buddys say "I told you so", just give them a smirk and tell them you hope they enjoyed picking their noses in Orlando for the last year cause you were out west living a dream. You did something that will probably make you a better, stronger person...and if nothing else they will be great memories when your old and settled somewhere. You're young, I hope you've got lots of journeys left.

I don't know, thecuse, I was picking a winner while reading your post just above and things came out just fine for me up here in northern Idaho!

No, you're right, Davie, keep yer chin up, man. I want to tell you to please keep on posting in here no matter where you move to. I have kept it up after moving out of Elko up north and I find the mix in here to be refreshing and delightful. You're a bright young man, go back home and feel good that you saw your Dad before he passed and you have a family left there ta go back to. And find yourself a job in the Orlando area, find a good woman, get married and possibly have a baby Davie. Buy a small house with a white picket fence, get an adorable Pomeranian or Chow Chow puppy and live the good life. Get yourself a 2012 Mitsubishi i all-electric car that will come to only $22,000 after the Barack Obama "greenish car" rebate and get your range of 62 miles per charge up, go watch the Magic smash the Knicks down like mosquitos at home, and move on with your life.

You got ta see Vegas, man, and really ya did all right for yourself. Feel good about yourself, man. No kidding, and stay on this board!

tijlover, get yourself a moped or all-electric bike. It's all going all-electric, we need ta wean ourselves off of this foreign oil. Yesterday in Coeur d' Alene, ID, I filled up our Lancer GTS with ghastly from the Exxon on Government Way for $2.99/gal. Whoo-hoo!! Ghastly has dipped below $3.00/gal.! I filled that pup up because in Kellogg, ID, 35 miles to the east on I-90, we're paying $3.26/gal. still.

Does anybody have an extra room available for a few days, today is the last day at my apartment and once I leave I.dont know where im going to stay, I need to be close,to my job since my car has 1/4 tank of gas and I only have $15 for the next two weeks and no food

even if I can not stay at the very least would it be possible if I could go and take a shower and wash my work clothes so I look good when I go to work?

I don't have any money but at the same time I don't want to live for free either if you want me to do housework that's not a problem right now I'll do anything just have a warm place to put my head at night

Failure is an imagined concept. The sooner we realize life will rip our image of what we want the future to be the sooner we can get on with living and rejoicing.
