I too, would love the have some chickens, but my dog would harass them. There is a lady up the street that has some chickens and sells the eggs.

When I was a kid, I once spent some time on a friend's ranch in Wyoming. They had fresh eggs from the chickens, fresh vegetables from the garden, even real maple syrup that they tapped from the trees on the ranch. It was the best food I've ever eaten.

I also learned on the ranch, that cows are very stupid. Every day we would load up the pickup with bales of hay and every day the freaking cows would stand in the road in front of the truck and moo at us. Instead of making a path so we could actually toss the hay to them, they blocked the road and mooed. I think a lot of people are like cows. They are the ones that make us slap our heads.
I live in Iowa, have my entire life. But, I have never been on a farm and have never had fresh eggs. I'm sure the difference is night and day. Fresh eggs aren't really good for hard boiled, though. They are harder to peel the fresher they are.

My cats would LOVE chickens in the back yard LOL. A block away a house had 2 ducks in the back yard living peacefully with 2 dogs. I don't know how they worked that out, they must have established a pecking order. Bad-dum-bum.

Hospice has been my life saving grace. I am so blessed to have the aids, nurses, drs, and family helping. I could not handle this by myself. So my beautiful home in Vegas lies empty while I sleep on my daughters couch.
I get to visit my home soon. Gotta set the drip system and fix the fence. My husband will go into a nursing home for the time I am there.
Thanks for your imput, my husband is terminal. He has PSP late stage.

The three stooges here have been given good advice time and time again here on the forum. It seems to fall on their deaf ears. All the good advice and intentions we offer will not help those that do not want to accept it and make proper decisions to improve their life.

The only one's that would really love a chicken coop in my back yard would be my cats. My neighbors no doubt would hate me. Which would be ok, since I hate a few of them already.
Here's a creative teen who made her prom dress out of cardboard. Check the slide show at the bottom of the link for pics of her dress made out of pop can tabs, and one made from Doritos bags.

That is actually pretty good advice. I did not even think of that.

I never did that. I have always said I like Las Vegas over Phoenix. I just miss my friends over there.

LVD I am so happy for your new chance, get to AA, my ex met his beautiful wife there they are still married after 23 yrs.

My husband has been a mess since being released from emergency. I blame myself, it was to have a catheter put in, but ran into complications. The catheter was more for me than him.

Now paramedics had to come to pick him up this morning because he fell and this time I could not lift him. It took 4 men to get him back to bed.

He did not eat anything yesterday and nothing so far today.
I can relate to what you are going through and it is tough. I used to work in a nursing home as a PCA for a short while. I could not take it. Stay strong...

You have to remember who you are talking to, Mr. poor, cheap and frugal. A large inheritance to me would be considered to be peanuts to most people. I will just say it was $10,000 which is a lot of money to me. I can live on that for almost a year if necessary. As far as the 2012 Mustang V6, it was $23,000 which I could barely afford to buy it cash using all my savings including the inheritance. I would never do that as I would be flat broke with a nice car. It was just a dream. I am keeping the Escort until I find a job, passive income, etc.

I am going to continue to drink cheap beer and live on $1,000 a month or less just as I always have.

Finally, I am not like Aqualung regarding finances at all. He went through $20,000 in 6 months. I have just over that, and could easily live off it for two years, and that is with no income coming in. I managed to get my grocery bill down to $15 a week, how many people can do that?
