As an old air-cooled VW guy, I'll take a 914 with a 1776 any day.. sure a twin turbo may kick you in the chest until you're breathless, but for cruising, there's nothing like the feel of the little guy..

The GT3 is naturally aspirated and the 914 was a cool car way back when. I grew up with Vdubs. First car was a 66 bug. Had two 66s, 2 67s - one with a 1776 that I built myself ( bus block, 90.5 thick wall pistons, aftermarket crank, con rods, everything blue printed/ balanced, dual spring superflow heads, engle fk89 cam, dual 48 IDAs, etc.) a 68 and 71 ghia.

I understand the whole air cooled porsche fans although I disagree with them.

I've done 9 bugs over the years, 2 ghias, 1 bus, and 1 Thing. Then got into British (what a nightmare) with a Jensen Healey and then a couple Spitfire 1500s.. I did a 69 bug similar to your 67. I loved the ease of working on them. I would just have a friend help me carry the engine into the basement, build all winter, and come Spring, slide it back in. Good times, man.. good times..

The new Beetles are a bit more complicated. I have found that out the hard way! My dad, who has always worked on my cars, and has owned VWs himself, did some work on my Bugsie. He said "That is one complicated little car!"

I complain about her, but then I put the top down and check out my reflection as I drive past windows and remember that I really do love her, grouchy as she is!

Nevada's new slogan, "A World Within. A State Apart" and a new summer marketing campaign with our very own, The Killers singing "Don't Fence Me In" will debut soon. Love it, great and catchy rendition by The Killers.

Hey aitchem, I was just having this conversation with a friend the other day and he said I was nuts. He said major league baseball had its highest ratings ever. Just seems that kids dont want to play baseball like they did 20 yrs ago...which in my opinion means its dying.

Kids are digging basketball and football to the maximux gordon-us. I wouldn't have had any reason ta suspect that interest in baseball is/has been dying or waning, though, over the past coupla years. I'm not immediately buying into that. Need a Brian Williams-type story on this subject.

Just not Barbara Wa-Wa. For crying out loud at 83 she's sew-ius-ly tawkin' wetiring. I am going to party-hardy when such a beast actually takes shape as that. No Bab-waa Waa-Waaa on TV live anymore. Paw-tyyyy Haw-dyyyy!!!!!
