My dad drove 180 mile round trip to work at GM. He worked at the Lordstown plant in Ohio, and we moved to PA. He did that trip 5-6 times a week for at least 15 years.

My last dealership was 104 miles roundtrip from my house. This was in New England, so the weather played an important part in the travel time, but normally 1:20 to 1:40. I normally left the house at 7:00a and got home at 10:30p. Did that 5-6 days a week for a number of years. Fortunately I was making more money than I could spend, so that eased the pain. I am actually looking forward to getting out of the house for work again. A commute gives me time to decompress.

In 2014 I had a second job at a carwash in Downtown Orlando, and lived in a suburb about 15 miles south of that area. I was scheduled to start at 8am every morning and would have to leave my house around 7:00 on the dot just to get there on time, while the direct route up the main road was about 15 miles I took an all highway route that was 19 miles to avoid all the long red lights...the first 9 miles of the trip took about 10 minutes and was a breeze...it was the remaining 10 miles that took 45-50 minutes every morning...and if there was an accident on I-4...FORGET IT!

I ended up quitting that job because the commute just wore me out

As far as the job search goes in Las Vegas, the Smith's at Craig and Simmons (not far from my house I'll be living in) is looking somewhat promising

I have a friend in Atlanta. He works for Porsche and lives 12 miles from the dealership. Takes him 2 hours each way.

I could not handle that. I would have to build one of these.

I'm paying 85. The service is not very good either. Need an end to their monopoly.
