Our Republican state government sure are very generous with our tax money. It just approved and gave Bigelow Aerospace over $158 million in tax abatements. In return, Bigelow will hire 5 employees next year, 30 over five years and 100 over 10 years.

We sure have a lot of money to throw away in Nevada, just remember come election time to get rid of these scums giving away our tax money and NOT spending where it is needed the most. Forget the school district, nor investing it in UNLV School of Medicine. Just hand it over to the millionaires.

I just read a very convincing article how a democratic governor in Nevada would turn us into California. Basically elect Laxalt or Nevada will become California. No medicaid for illegal immigrants!

^^^^If you're a Nevada taxpayer then too bad, your tax money being wasted on tax giveaway to the rich and in the meantime our classroom size in Clark County are bursting at the seams and the struggling UNLV School of Medicine, wait forget it, those are not Nevada politicians including the governor's responsibility.

Spend the tax money where it will make a difference. Hiring five people for $158 million. Sounds like a great deal to me. NOT! If Bigelow has brought in other aerospace companies in town hiring locals then it perhaps giving tax abatements would NOT be such a foolish idea but it has not brought in any.

All the equipment Bigelow will be needing to expand his business won't be coming from local companies, more than likely from California or elsewhere. He has already mentioned the manufacturing plant will be somewhere outside of Nevada. (Google it) Florida was mentioned and so was Alabama.

His monthly rental properties are a cesspool. Perhaps he need to upgrade those properties so he may improve the residents living conditions. Oh wait he wants tax abatement for that as well.

Isn't Bigelow the one that owns one of those weeklies?

Someone explain to me what it means that Nevada is a right to work state. Apparently it is not a good thing for employees. Isn't all employment in the United States "at will."

It means they can fire you because they don’t like your shirt. No worker protection, unless union. This is a libertarian state. You are on your own.

Right to work just means you don’t have to join the union. “ At will” is the kicker.

If you're not retired don't move here. Upset the boss and you're out. In some ways this is a crap place to live.

Whoever wrote that never met a Nevada Democrat. Tom Collins, anyone? When he wasn’t busy shooting trees or calling Utah “ a bunch of inbreds” he was a decent councilman. And always entertaining.

Steve Sisolak and Chris G are pretty far from California Dems. I do like Sandoval, even though he’s from up north. He quit a lifetime federal judge position to take the helm from his inept and corrupt predecessor.

Sisolack is shady as hell. Will be voting against him for sure.

...but honestly speaking Union membership is so much better. At least it will fight for your rights as a worker and as mentioned above, employers can fire you anytime as they please. It will also fight for your rights to have better pay. Where I currently work, its a non-union property. Longevity and seniority means nothing to management. Shame really, I have seen so many co-workers leave, it's only a matter of time for myself. Im fed up with the place after 3 1/2 years. Putting out resumes anywhere I can.

My sisters are all Union members and they are making decent money with nice benefits from the Union and their employers.

What's to fear? Turn Nevada into California, you mean become the 6th largest economy in the world? And have California-styled Nimby's that would dictate height of buildings, which buildings can't be torn because they have historic value, proposals going through several neighborhood committee's before any shovel goes into the ground, controlling density/development, and if you own a house in Las Vegas, see your property prices equal that of L.A.

Then sell your over-priced home, and buy 2-3 houses elsewhere!

I'd vote for that if I still lived there!

I tangled with Chris G any number of times when living there, from the high volume of noise on the city buses (problem finally corrected, as they're a lot quieter now) to that LED sign at DI/Maryland to the benefit of Sunrise Hospital. How many times did I email her and scream: Have Sunrise move that blasted sign into the middle of that parking lot! And, she then OK's that big LED sign for Westgate, irritating the residents of Turnberry Place.

Both Sisolak and Chris G are in the laps of the casino moguls and taxi businesses, as if not all of the Clark County Commissioners so what a big choice. My guess is that Chris G is going to make it, and have a Sagittarian for Governor.
