I wouldn't say the deals are fake, but to get on the show has to be by invitation only. You couldn't just walk in with a suit or armor and expect them to put you right on camera. Doesn't work that way. Has to be planned. They are good negotiators, but that's another thing that's been prearranged to make it interesting to viewers. When Rick or the Old Man get started they always remind me of the first rule of negotiation..."He who names his price first, loses."

The reason I don't like other reality shows is they seem to promote bad behavior. And knowing pretty much a lot of what's going on behind the camera, I just can't accept it as anything real. Besides, who the he** cares about watching a bunch of sluts, or some ugly people with too many kids, that you never heard of anyway, getting rich by being a**holes, and pretending to be on candid camera? But Pawn Stars isn't like that really. It's just fun. I've said it before: It's Antiques Roadshow meets Orange County Choppers. Interesting stuff shows up and you love seeing something old turn out to be worth a fortune; but at the same time the "family" is funny, and just dysfunctional enough to be like people you probably know.

actually i don't believe that.. i think if you have something interesting, they just schedule you to come back.. i was there when they were filming.. it is a very tiny set up...

Hello guys,
Agree with all the 1099 talk, something most are not told about until they think they are walking off free, the tax man cometh!
Can I ask about the old Star Trek the Experience that once was at the Hilton?
Last I read it was possible moving to the city center?
Anyone know? I am looking for a trip in the next year or two and I would love to visit that again in any type of form. That and of course now that Barry Manilow is going to be in town
Thanks in advance, love looking at the photos.

I guess I am a little naive since I thought these reality shows were real. My favorite reality show is Intervention on A&E. Now I have to wonder if it is real or not?

The glass probably didn't add more than $20 to the props budget each time they broke it, and it may have been spun sugar anyway. But it was funny, and the idea is to put on a good show for your viewers.
Yep, like one episode that ended with Chumley supposedly driving off to deliver a "potty chair" and it flies out of the back of the pickup and breaks into pieces.

Or the story line in another episode where the old man sent Chumlee to his house to pick up a piece of Indian jewelry and expected him to return in 20 minutes. Three or four hours later there's a crew following the old man around the shop while he asks anyone if they know where Chumley is and meanwhile there is another camera crew filming Chumley eating a sandwich and watching tv at the house.

Yeah, a lot of it is staged, but it is still funny as hell.

Any idea how much tax there would be on roughly 23k? Sadly, they didn't withhold any taxes on the money I got for taking care of my mom. I get the feeling that I'm going to screwed, blued, and tattooed. Actually, if I can choose the art, I can live with the tattooed part.

Last I heard, they were going to put it at the Neonopolis.

Hey thanks,
care to expand?
I bet the IRS has a site that would help you, tax on that amount I would guess to be not more than 1,000.

I made $20,000 last year, and I paid a total of $3,000 between Social Security, Medicare tax, and federal tax.
